I know the feeling - I've been shedding vehicles like a sycamore tree loosing leaves in the fall. I still have the deuce, but it's 90+ miles away from me right now. :(
The M1009 and M416 trailer went to a good home.
Jason,
The trip was just what I needed. I was really stressed out by the new job, moving and life in general. A few hours of mountain deuce time with friends was just what the doctor ordered! Thanks again for arranging this great trip!
Matt
Seriously, this is why it is a good idea to drive your MV with the headlights on, even in broad daylight. It helps eliminate the "I couldn't see him" excuse.
Are you sure you need a rebuild? I would put on a new fuel pump, change the oil and filter, and do a test drive before condemming the engine. Try the easy path first and you might get lucky.
Here are some cell phone photos I took before my battery died. This was a fun trip! I was really impressed with Fastnova's 900-series 5-ton. My deuce ran great for the whole trip, almost like she was looking forward to the outing. I literally found out about the trip about an hour before...
M1009's shift with a "bump" when everything is working fine, almost like there is a shift kit in the transmission. This concerned me when i first got my M1009. Remember you have the HD Diesel version of the TH400.
My guess is your old fluid was worn out and allowing some slip on shifting.
The resistor would be much more reliable since it is only one part. Make sure you mount it in a location where air can circulate around it to prevent over heating.
Many times when a vehicles pulls to one side, the wheel cylinder on the opposite side is leaking and has gotten the shoes wet. My deuce was pulling to the right during hard braking. The driver's side front wheel cylinder was leaking and had contaminated the shoes.
You may want to pull both...
Our M151A2 was squirrelly when we first got it and it was actually scary to drive.. I pushed on one of the back wheels and it moved side to side a lot. The rear suspension bushings were worn out. After replacing them, the jeep handled MUCH better.
You'll love the M151A2. My dad has one and it is our favorite desert jeep. You just can't beat the independent suspension ride. It also feels safe at 55 MPH.
