This almost happened to me while driving my dad's GPW years ago (I was 16 at the time). I got up to about 40 on the drive home from a car show when I noticed the hood get "light" on the front end and just start to lift. I slammed on the brakes, pulled over to the side of the road and latched the...
^True, it would be mayhem otherwise.
I wouldn't mess around with a frequency other than 60 Hz in the US. If you happen to have bought a 400 Hz generator by mistake, I wouldn't power anything other than incandescent light bulbs or pure resistive heater elements with it.
The generator on my A1 is shaking too. The crankshaft pulley is a little bent and I think that is causing the problem. Maybe someone bounced it off the frame when they were installing the engine.
A friend of mine did this recently on a WWII CCKW. He flushed the drake lines with alcohol before putting the DOT 5 into the system. I don't know what type of alcohol was used, but he bought it at Home Depot.
I would only use the D-links in an emergency and only for a real short distance at slow speeds. There will be too much slop in the set up and the D-links will probably break eventually.
Jason, Kylia doesn't work for Riverside County anymore, but I can message her on Facebook and ask her about a new contact. I agree that the convoy was as much fun as the air show itself!
Jason, I love the IE and would stay here is I could. But like the Godfather, my company made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I will have to downsize my MV collection, but I plan to keep at least one vehicle. Several truck club friends in the SF Valley have offered me storage space.
I plan on...
I will miss this great air show. I am leaving the IE this summer and moving to LA - oh, the horror! My wife and I will be scouting for our new urban LZ this weekend.
I like this idea. It seems that when you have an M35A2, you wish for an M109A3 and vice-versa. An expensive and space-consuming solution is to own one of each - I had two M35A2's and an M185A3 at one point. That was a little ridiculous, so I kept the best M35A2 and sold the other two trucks.
I...
