73 on my GPS speedo app on my phone.
1988 M998 with 6.5 non turbo and 3 speed on 37's.
Truck was not happy for sure.
Normal tollway speed around 65ish..
With the addition to some aftermarket items to my new to me 1988 Humvee I was wondering what the best brand spraypaint
is out there to give the closest match to the original CARC paint on the truck ? The generally available "military" paint doesn't come close, hence my question.
Also where to...
I thought about doing a gear change AND a 4 speed to really excel on the tollway but as the above said I have 2.56 gears anyways so.
Waiting to hear on the success / outcome of the 700R4 swap and then I will prob pull the trigger and go that route..
Yup !
My truck which has brand new tires, fresh alignment, and will cruise at 60-65mph comfortably. If I push it alittle harder the fastest I have seen (on my gps speedo app) has been 73mph but the truck def. wasn't happy.
If I could maintain 70-75 with the engine rpm's alittle lower and the...
Could you PM me with exactly where you picked up this setup from , and also a list of what it came with ?
Cause, if you got basically a complete "kit" for a 4 speed and everything to go along with it for under $4k i'm sold !
Question:
Looking to do something about the stock 3 speed in my 1988 Humvee and its looking to be either a 4L80E swap or a Gear Vendor under / overdrive unit. Coming from the hot rod world I have experience with both setups but I haven't heard (not can find anyone) that has added a Gear Vendor...
I have a air horn setup for my Humvee I have yet to install. Came from a company out of the "lone star" state and was made per my request.
10 gallon air tank, 24volt compressor, wiring, 150psi switch, and a 35'' single air horn. I had a similar setup on my old turn diesel Ford Excursion and was...
1988 Humvee Project: Installed my "Bed / Cargo Divider" today.
Had the day off and took advantage of the "heat wave" Chicago was having with temps in the lower 50's and installed my "Bed Divider" I picked up offa good ol
Ebay. I am by no means a mechanic but I have built a few racecars and...
Evening,
My new to me 1988 Humvee has been running like a top since I have owned it for the past month or so. I have noticed though the voltage gauge likes to "jump" around while driving.
It is either in this position:
Or this one:
The truck never changes the way it's running / No power...
Found and closed the vent as you mentioned. Still blows cold air but not nearly as much.
Think I am going to give it a solid coolant flush once it's in the shop but for the cash I think a secondary / Mojave heater is in the
trucks near future...
I have only owned the truck for alittle over a month and the Chicago cold has kept me from messing around with it too much in the garage. Guess my first step is to get some insulation / dynamat and go that route first, then I can worry about replacing / adding a secondary heater. Like I said the...
I haven't cleaned out the cooling system as of yet, but its on the list when the truck goes in for its "upgrades"..
Never thought about the roll insulation idea, makes sense !
I hear ya on the load situation. My truck is going under the knife in a few weeks and my buddy who is helping me wire the thing is a genius when it comes to wiring and the such. We are using a 24v-12v step down convertor and a 3rd battery setup just for the 12volt items we are adding to the truck.
