Tanner, this is true. Some surplus humvee tires have deteriorated sidewalls that are not safe to use.If you buy them sight unseen, deal with a reputable dealer. The first set of 4 I bought I picked them myself. When I got home and cleaned them,I discovered 1 was badly cracked @ the sidewall, and...
Try militaryoffroadtires.net and ask for John Chameli. They have the best condition 36" Wrangler surplus Humvee tires.90-95 % tread. The set of 37's I bought were almost new. They are in Georgia, so shipping shouldn't be too bad.
Ditto on the ORD 4" lift.I just completed this lift on my 1028.Shackle flip in the rear is easy on your driveshaft and pinion angle. It moves the axle forward a bit and eliminates pullaway from the front TC yoke.I went with HD Tuff Country springs in front, with drop pitman arm.Truck rides great...
Don't use coathangers.Use mild steel 1/8 or 16th " rod.It is cheap and the correct filler material.Use wet rags around the repair area to minimize warpage, and adjust your heat at the tip to create the right flow of rod and material. When I started in the Body and fender trade 40 years ago, that...
[thumbzup]Donation sent.Thankyou SS and all responsible for helping me get my CUCV M1028 restored and roadworthy. All the advice and threads have enabled me to DO IT MYSELF,and save $$$$$$$$$.Great site and resource. Please help it endure for a long time!!!!
I'm addicted.Just bought a M1028 from a fellow member who is also a great guy.I've already changed the oil and filter, did the "Doghead",replaced all the v-belts,checked the glow plug relay-already updated by Uncle Sam,ordered a complete 4" lift kit from ORD,and bought 16.5" GM old school steely...
I just completed the "Doghead" on my 1028, and it fired right up!Very simple upgrade, and I like the snap it makes when the relay receives voltage. If it saves a future starter replacement or worse, it is cheap insurance. Thanks Doghead!
Very nice, looks like a M116 1 ton axle with a A3 bed without fender exstensions. .Also 16" 8 lug wheels and tires-very practical setup.Good score! Also you're front landing leg crank handle survived recovery!
Hundy (Mark) @ 100dollarman.com ,in Lucerene Valley.Good guy.Lots of rubber, dueces,(bobbed also),and trailers.Worth the stop if your in the area.Call first.
Thanks guys, looks like I'm good to go.I guess ramps might be in order instead of dumping the trailer to load and unload. These are awesome trailers.Wish I had room for 1 more.
:)Has anyone tried hauling an ATV (Honda Foreman) in a m101a2 with bows and vinyl cover attached? Will the bows need to be raised up?Thanks trying to get ready for hunting season. Will try it myself, but it seems there is a lot of experience on SS.
What kind of spray equipment are you using? If you are using a siphon or gravity spray gun ,1 gallon should be plenty for 2 or 3 coats. Are you using acrylic enamel?Follow directions on can as to reduction and gun pressure.More loss of material with a siphon gun as compared to a gravity low VOC...
Check if VA. will allow title on a home built trailer.I just registered and titled my M101a2 in CA. of all places,as a home built.I explained the trailer was a demilitarized military trailer.I produced a receipt for all components and submitted a Satement of Facts as to value, and how I acquired...
