Sorry if you missed the PBR today. it was a good time. Got some work done on the PBR and also on their M931. They removed the 5th wheel and put a flat deck on it with some bus seats to use for the parades. One of the guys built a nice rail and chain system around the deck for safety. Today...
I have had the M886 for a dozen years. Had an intermittent starting issue that as stated above ended up being a bad ammeter gauge. Of all things a paper clip had fallen on the terminals of the gauge and it would cause problems. I was stymied and took it to a local mechanic and when he finally...
Wanted to refresh this one. Anyone coming out for the PBR next Saturday. There is a GShow at the SW WA Fairgrounds. Take in that show and then come see the PBR. If anyone has questions, give me a call. 360 870 0706 Peter
The bulbs that are in it, 24v will work, but be dim, or you can go with the LED bulbs (sorry don't remember the numbers) and pull it on either 12 or 24. If you end up using your tow lights, if they are magnetic, there is a lot of aluminum on that trailer. You might want something you could...
The M38A1 is just a darn good jeep. I have a 42 GPW, 51 M38, and 53 M38A1. I enjoy the comfort of the M38A1. The 38A1 was my first MV, got it 30 years ago and am still enjoying it, but picked up and M151A2 a year ago and could now be spoiled by that one.. Happy trails.
you won't have any trouble pulling that trailer with the pintle ball hitch set up. As has been said, watch for the height, tongue to height of your tow vehicle. Also you want a good adapter from your tow vehicle to the trailer or some tow lights. You can drop the trailer down about 4 to 6...
Somebody decided they didn't like the windshield on the M886 yesterday while I was out. Two serious rock hits right in front of the driver. it is parked under a carport beside the garage and has been there for years. Talk about disheartening. I usually let vets drive it in parades.
Is that a CCKW? it certainly is worth an attempt to save, but have you looked at that one on CL lately? It needs work too, but is a lot further along. Good luck on this project. If you are looking for parts, let the group know and or get familiar with our friend at the McKenna Y.
Oldsteel, take a look at the upcoming events section in the forums. I try to keep local events posted there. On 12 MAR there is an open house in Chehalis for the PBR group. 19 MAR is the Olympic Flight Museum military show. MV's are welcome, let me know if you want to bring the truck and I...
Do you have a picture of the bilge pump switch? Am working with some PBR guys and they are working on the Bilge pumps. Who knows maybe they are the same and they might have an extra. They are actually putting in a back up pump system, so they can run one off the batteries when they are not...
you might watch for someone that is scrapping out an M925, get the frame rails and inserts, bolt them in and then you only need to fabricate the winch mounting that you are looking for and run a power leg. It is nice to have a good impact wrench for this project and a couple of friends to share...
Depends on your time frame, but mid Vietnam they started using vinyl stick on for the numbers and lettering. I have a 53 M38A1, but it has some of the VN upgrades such as vinyl seats and vinyl lettering on the hood. The stars were all painted on.
Their 931 is really a nice one. They did have a little rust issue under the floor mats and an issue under the hood, but we took care of that yesterday. Last month they had a couple of tires that were looking a bit low, they were going to compressor up. So we started the truck, backed it out...
