    M1009 heater blower switch

CJ, Per the -20p TM, the resistor is GM part number 500890. Try doing a google search on "resistor 500890" and I think you'll find enough information to find a replacement. For example, GMPartsWiki.com came up with this link for the NAPA part equivalent...

    M1009 heater blower switch

CJ, The rusted connections could easily stop it from working. If they can't be cleaned, then they should be replaced. What you might want to do is try powering the blower motor directly, to verify that the blower motor is good. As for replacement blower resistors, etc, I would think any...

    Name that missing relay

Or you can go to CUCV Electric and order them. They are both 12v relays that switch a 24v load.

    M1009 heater blower switch

Did you try wiring the fan motor directly to 12v to verify the motor is good? You could also test the connections with a voltmeter while you have the fan switch on and the key in the run position. At least it might help narrow down the problem area without a lot of work and shooting in the dark...

    Glow Plug Relay Repair

Is that just dirt, or is it carbon from the contacts arcing? Are your glow plugs running stock 24v or the 12v bypass? My relay stopped providing power to my glow plugs shortly after I did the 12v bypass for the glow plugs. I assumed it was due to carbon build up that resulted in increased...

How can I tell if it's a quality alternator?

Quality? No idea. The bigger question is: does it have an isolated ground? If not, use it on the drivers side only. Unless you convert to 12v.

glow plugs stuck on - quick fix?

As suggested previously, the trouble shooting guide in the TMs is a great place to start, and *should* find the problem part for you. Another source would be the Glow Plug Theory of Operation that has been posted, and I think CUCV Electric also has some great guides to the GP system. Also as...

    M1009 Front Turn Signal Housing?

The CUCVs are all *supposed* to be based on the '84 model year parts. However, there do seem to be some inevitable differences. For example, some have found wiring in the dash harness for the older style neutral safety switch, which, in at least one case, just had a jumper plug in it...

    Heavy Duty Headlight wiring harness

That looks about right! I'd prefer to find a better way to connect to the existing headlight wiring than just using spade terminals like that site shows. The LMC, and others, come with a connector that mimics the back of the standard headlight bulb. I'm sure they are available with a bit of...

    Heavy Duty Headlight wiring harness

The factory must think that the stock wiring is, or was at time of manufacture, up to the task of handling the draw from the headlights. Once age, corrosion, etc comes into play in vehicles this old, I don't think they are up to it. I have a '72 240Z, and they are known for melting the fuse box...

Newby working thru Glow Plug diagnostics

Cucvelectric is a good place to start, but as I recall, they are nothing special. The stock glow plug terminal is actually smaller than most spade terminals. I would think that any auto parts place will have them. Heck, even Home Depot should have them.

Newby working thru Glow Plug diagnostics

Sounds like you are on a good path to getting your GP system up to snuff. For mine, I pulled the rear battery and tray to gain easy access to the right rear glow plugs. This also allowed me to repaint the battery tray. Even though I had a bad plug, they all came out easy. I replaced them with...

If you do go with the 700, you may want to change the gearing in the axles.

i need pics of lift size w/ tire size to help me decide

You'll find lots of pictures here: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/44582-post-your-cucv-pics-here.html Some lifted, some not. I'm running 33s w/out a lift, and do get the occasional tire rub. My plan is to put in a 2 inch lift one of these days. Another thread to check out...

    Driving a deuce though California

Do you have a license, at least in your state of residence, that covers operating a deuce? You should be able to get a temporary registration, or trip permit, from your DMV. You should also get it insured before you drive it home. Otherwise, make sure the lights, brakes, etc all work, and...

    Oil Fairy?!?!

Maybe you could drop the oil pan and then run it to see where the extra is coming from? :)
