    Delco batterys

I ditched my 6TL's for group 31's and never looked back. The CUCV battery hold downs are also meant to hold group 31.

    My cucv flatbed project

I like the idea of a box guarding the fuel tank on the driver's side and a tool box of the same dimensions on the passenger side. If you ever have to stop on the side of the highway to get into the tool box, you'll be on the side of the truck away from traffic.

    Watch out for straps

As I found out trying to yank with a chain (see post #2). If I had been using the correct strap, it would have transferred the kinetic energy from my deuce to the small tree in question.

All CUCV lights are 12 Volts. Any auto parts store will have them.

low voltage on voltmeter after wash

CUCV's have a warning not to pressure wash under the hood for this reason. Look for the thread on the Doghead glowplug realy modification to eliminate this resistor.

    Good fixer up

Like it says on cereal boxes, "Some settling of contents may occur during shipping."

    Watch out for straps

I was pulling out some large bushes/small trees using the deuce and a chain. Once, instead of using first gear, low range, I used second gear, low range and give a big jerk. The chain broke and the hook took off like a bullet. Luckily, it didn't hit anyone. We never did find it. I try not to...

    Found...Mystery Bolt???

Just to add more fuel to the fire, which weighs more, a ton of feathers or a ton of bricks? The 10.9 is the metric hardness grade equivalent to an SAE Grade 8 bolt.

    1939 Artic Cruiser ?

The ATHS magazine "Wheels of Time" did an article on the cruiser a while back. They said the road ride was horrible because the machine bucked badly at speeds over 15 MPH.

    dirtbag XI

JD, here's a rattler just for you. Not from Camp Dirtbag, but from the San Bernardino Mountains a couple of years ago. About six feet long.

So just what am I looking at here?

It looks like a Ford to me. I believe those are the Ford type tool box lids. Someone extended the windshield frame at one point, probably as part of a kit for a hard top. The gages are probably 12 volt replacements. I covet the front hubs. $600 for this is a good deal.

    Engine RPM Governor

I have heard about this horrible part of the Arizona test (and I thought California was crazy). I agree with the comment about limiting the throttle linkage travel. Do A3's have the same bolt under the gas pedal that can be adjusted. If so, I would set it so the engine wouldn't go over 2000 or...

    Wth?Deuce making to much power?

Maybe an air leak formed somewhere in the fuel system. My M1009 got a sudden burst of power while going down the freeway one day. It was caused by a crack in the rubber fuel line that goes into the lift pump. In my case, about 30 seconds after the power boost, the M1009 developed a severe...

Good point, I didn't realize that you had no gages. Out of the box thinking here - $20 cheapo mechanical oil pressure gage from Pep Boys?
