WD-40 used to be a great starting fluid for Diesels, but they changed something and now it doesn't work very well.

    Old gasoline

I wouldn't use it. It is still old crappy fuel whether you are putting it in a gas engine or a multifuel. Makes good weed killer.

    In tank pump question

Are you sure the in-tank pump is not working? Start your engine and build up air. Then shut off the engine, but leave the battery switch on. Walk over to the tank, open the cap, and listen inside for the sound of the electric motor running. Of course, the motor can run and the pump not have...

    Major Meltdown!! :(

Many engines speed up a bit while they are warming (both gas and Diesel). The oil gets less viscous, valve clearances change slightly, transmission warms up, etc... Also, don't forget that a Diesel engine can run and run away on its own engine oil if it starts to get into the cylinders in a...

Hooked up the 105 for a dog run... photos..

I find with the M105 behind a deuce that if you carefully watch for the trailer lugnuts, you can catch the trailer just before it gets turned too far to recover. The lugnuts are the first part of the trailer you see as it starts to turn behind you. And slow, slow, slow also helps.

How much fluid goes in a tranny?

Hoop, a newbie could be misled by your remark and put gear oil into their master cylinder. The result would not be very funny.

    Kipman's WMO pump works great!!

I'm sure the air operated pump works great, but I wouldn't run the suction pipe to the bottom of the barrel. That's where all the crap settles.

From the top or the bottom?

91W350, my set up is just like yours. I just grab a 7/16" wrench (for the floor cover), a 3/8" wrench for the vent line, and a 3/4" wrench for the cap. The job can be a PITA, especially threading the vent line back onto the cap when you're done. I will try your from the bottom method.

    They lost my truck!!!!

Lonegunman, the man is dead for Christ's sake. Let him rest in peace. Did you know Colin well enough to call him a "scumbag"? How is your calling Colin a "scumbag" at all constructive?

    Leaking lift pump

My dad just had the same thing happen on his '80 Toyota Land Cruiser (gas engine). It too was a crimped together fuel pump. I don't know how common this is, but it does happen. My dad had to bite the bullet and buy a new fuel pump.

From the top or the bottom?

Thanks for the dog tips 91W350. Having owned both turbos, I'll take a D over a C if given the choice.

From the top or the bottom?

Hey 91W350, great photos as usual. Do you use any kind of hearing protection for your dogs while they are riding in the deuce? My dog would love to ride, but I am afraid to take her because of the noise. I have the quieter D turbo, but still...

Should have my M38A1 pried out of my dad's hands by then. It needs a good desert run. Got a bit of work to do on the M35A2 by 9 April, but I did just get a new set of Mud Terrains for the M1009.

I'm kidding, of course. Real radioactive items are fluorescent green. Just ask Homer Simpson.
