    Highway speed for M1009

I agree with Bronconut. 68 MPH seems to be a sweet spot for my stock M1009, though I usually cruise 62 to 65.

Daumier, That is a super clean Umimog! Welcome to the site. I think I may consider a Unimog one day. It is better suited to the fire roads in my area than the deuce.

For those of you in California

:funny: I had a friend that collected Plymouth Valiants. He loved the cars and their slant-six engines. One day, we were at a stoplight when some rich girls in a new Mercedes laughed at the faded red "Val". My friend leaned out the window and said, "Don't laugh girls, this car costs less than...

    6.2 Diesel in a M-37?

The 6.2 will be screaming on the highway unless you run bigger tires, put in an overdrive tranny, change the axle ratios, or a combination of these. You may also have steering column clearance issues.

    Newbie gasser vs multi

Barrman's description of the differences between engines is accurate. When I got my mulit-fuel, I dreamed of a multi-state desert exploration trip. This never happened, and the older I get, the less I like the noisy, smelly, hot and loud multifuel engine. With the little amount of driving I...

    M211...custom??

The drop side bed is useful if you plan to load the truck with a forklift. Otherwise, I would get the standard bed.

Pics of my Deuce.... and girl

Pic # 4 shows she is good at shifting gears. Maybe I'm getting old, but I did notice the truck. Is it a re-powered gasser? I noticed the electric horn. You could always use a Confederate flag like Daisy Duke (apologies to my Southern friends).

    Electric winch

Farmun, I've never seen a skateboard with a winch before. It looks like the winch may be a little oversized for that application!

    New guy from Norway

You shouldn't need the lead additive with leaded gas. In the US, leaded gasoline hasn't been sold for a number of years. If you use too much lead additive, you will start to get deposits on your spark plugs.

    New guy from Norway

I would use leaded fuel if you have a choice. In case the '52 GMC 302 doesn't have hardened valve seats (I don't know), the lead in the gas will act as a cushion to help prevent vavle seat wear.

    Say TTFN to the M60!

My son-in law used to work for Barnett. They are a great company. I see they donated their steerable 12 axle rig, probably their most expensive setup. Dalton Trucking in Fontana moved a Soviet T-54 tank to the 2004 ATHS convention in Fontana free of charge.
