Sweet! The M211 is my favorite deuce ever since I got a ride in one (years ago) when I was 11. I would trade my M35A2 for one.
The tailgate is exactly the same as one off an M35A2, if that helps.
I think it was actually an XM215 dump, if you read the really tiny writing on the top of the data plate. So, someone removed the dump bed. This is too bad, because if it were an M211, a standard M35 bed would fit. The M215 has the short wheelbase just like the tractor of the series. You...
Man, you are lucky you didn't get any of that acid in your eyes! Glad you're OK. Do you have any idea what caused the battery blow?
I once heard a battery explode about a quarter of a mile away at a neighboring ranch in Nevada.
It can be done, but make any turns as wide as possible. I would recommend having a ground guide also to watch in case anything goes hinkey.
I pushed a dead Pinzgauer 712 ambulance up my driveway with my son using an M1009 as the pusher. The only two problems we ran into is turning the steering...
Your oil pressure is very good, especially if those are hot readings. Many trucks idle at 30 psi or less. I used to have a non-turbo deuce that had about 8 psi oil pressure at idle. She was a tired old girl.
Now there's the voice of experience talking. Thanks for the great advice. This is why Willys abandoned the column shift used on some CJ-2's. During frame flex, the transmission couldn't be shifted.
Your friend probably had a stressful time off the Somali coast. It looks like he had fun on the trip home from the naval base. Thanks for sharing the great photos.
Hey Richard,
The rear brakes do not adjust when backing up. They are adjusted every time you put on the parking brake. Does your parking brake pedal go all the way to the floor? If so, it needs to be adjusted.
The procedure is in the manual, but basically you jack up the back of the truck...
My '68 M105 trailer uses the two wheel cylinder per wheel setup like the M211 GMC's from the '50's. I don't know about the M146 trailers, but you can spot the difference visually. If there is a steel brake line leading from the top of the backing plate to a connection on the bottom of the...
Are you sure there is not diesel fuel mixed with the oil? Does it seem especially thin? Just a thought.
If someone really put 10 gallons of oil in this truck, they really blew it.
Though I've seen the plugs installed both ways, I believe concave side out ) is correct. You want pressure building up from ice to push the plugs out. If the plugs were installed concave side facing the block (, pressure from the ice would tend to wedge the plug in more tightly against the...
Taking the front fender off is much easier than pulling the engine. I have never done freeze plugs myself, but I remember someone installing them in with a hammer and a socket from a socket set that was just smaller than the diameter of the plug.
OK, now I feel compelled to say something. I've known Colin Dibnah for about five years and I heard about this tragedy earlier this week. I considered Colin a friend. The only business dealing I ever had with him was my selling parts to Colin. I never bought any vehicles from him, though I...
