Thanks for the info, Jones. I was sort of curious about that. I wondered if it might just be a symptom of the comparatively small engines and the turbos used on the imports or if it would apply across the board, so to speak.
LTNS, Tac.
Don't worry about the intercooler, you can add one pretty easily. You really wouldn't have wanted a stock Dodge one anyway, just find one that fits in the truck and you can plumb to it. There is some talk with the import guys about running too large of a intercooler and losing...
Are the rearmost rims and tires a different size than the middle axles? I know it's probably just an illusion of the angle but it seems a bit odd looking even taking that into consideration.
I've seen the early model Cummins in the Dodge trucks go for about $1,400 complete but that's about as low as I've seen. It's sometimes cheaper to buy the whole truck. A local boy bought a 1991 Dodge W250 with the Cummins for about $1,300. Hell, I paid $1,200 for a '81 W250 with a 360 4speed...
All M880 series trucks should be an A-727 automatic with a NP203 fulltime 4WD transfer case. I have seen a few Dodge trucks that were used by the military that were 4 speeds, but they were just civilian vehicles owned by the military and not a specific M series model.
I know I have seen an...
You can even use acrylic rods to do the same. You lightly heat them to bend them into the desired shape. then paint them, or cover them with shrinkwrap to prevent the whole tube from glowing. They should be available at larger hobby supply stores.
Generally M715 owners swap the whole axle assemblies to CUCV axles or something similar because of all the added benefits. 8 lug wheel pattern, disc brake front axle, cheaper possibilities for rear disc brake swaps, better/stronger axles, parts availability, more streetable gearing and wider...
RE: Dump bed
Part it out and out it out of it's misery. then go and shoot the worthless individual that created such a monstosity. That's one horrible POS.
RE: looking good
Excellent work as always. I'd think about the Deuce rims a bit, somebody sure needs to produce a nice set of rims that are actually straight and don't leak, lol.
Now, do something with those marker lamps! :P
RE: Re: RE: M725 blowing apart oil filters!
It's actually a common mistake. I think the engine size is similar and they both used the NP200 transfer case. The biggest difference other than the obvious fact that one is a Dodge and the other is a Jeep, is that the M37 is 3/4 ton and the M715 is...
Re: RE: M725 blowing apart oil filters!
Negative, it's actually a single over head cam, 230 c.i. inline 6 cylinder that was pretty sophisticated for it's early 60's introduction. It's a decent engine and makes good power, but is very hard to find internal parts for and they have less than...
I'd try to see if you are getting oil pressure to the head. Since you didn't specify, I am assuming you have the original 230 OHC engine, which is famous for issues with the oil line to the back of the head. Take the cover off and run it and see if you are getting a good amount of oil to all...
There should be a relief/bypass valve in the filter itself. If it has a visible spring in side the filter, then it has one. Just about all modern, name brand filters have them today. If it has one and it's still blowing the filter, then you have some sort of blockage in the system beyond the...
