I agree with the other guys, a 6.2 would be a bad choice. I think it would be taxed out just hauling the Deuce around empty. I also agree that the 700R4 would be overloaded and I would be surprised if a NP208 transfer case lasted a month. That's way over it's torque rating I'm sure. As for...
It's typical wheel bearing grease. Nothing special but a lot of M715/M725 owners feel that the grease is too thick to get into the joint and lube properly so a lot of them will mix gear oil with it. Another option a lot of the guys seem to use is what is called "cornhead grease" which I...
You could try that, or the lack of lubrication could cause them to self destruct in short order. A potential steering linkage failure on a truck that big could be a problem no one wants. Luckily they will only do about 45 MPH, lol.
Not necessarily. there are a lot of "sealed for life" joints and such in the auto industry that last less then 30K miles because they loose the lube. If the boot has gotten damaged at some point, or had gotten hard with age, I'd be suspicious.
Hmmm, perhaps it is engine oil. Check out this chart on the Rotella site:
http://www.rotella.com/products/rotella_t_single.html
That should be fairly accurate, Rotella has always been a trustworthy name in commercial truck fluids.

It says that C-4 is NOT the same, so there goes anything common. Searching the MIL-L-2104 keeps taking me to light engine oil for some reason, if that is possible? Still...
I'd think you could drill the cap on those joints and install a Zerk fitting and grease them. I've done it with other automotive joints in the past such as ball joints and tie rod ends, even U joints. I didn't have a snazzy drawing of the joint either, lol. Judging by the pic, there should be...
Yup, Driver's side. NP203 PTOs seem kind of rare though but I'm sure you can get one new. I don't think any of the ones from the other New Process Gear stuff would work.
Hmm, I know the Power Wagon school buses are super rare and worth quite a bit. I wonder if that is actually an M37, or a Power Wagon that got M37 sheetmetal at some point? Or perhaps an M37 that was later converted? Definitely interesting and worthy or a full stock restoration.
As for "it's just a cargo truck" we've all heard and some of us have had experiences where local law enforcement or even military personnel have taken a MV'er as actual military while driving a MV. Think about if someone who was up to some sort of terrorist action loaded an M35 with fertilizer...
It's not so much the gate itself that folds under the truck, as most do fold flat against the back, but all I have seen have quite a bit of hydraulics and rams that tuck under the back and take up a lot of room.
In my experience, 9 times out of 10, a "lifter tick" in a Mopar small block is actually a burnt exhaust valve not seating properly. Still not a critical item, but much more expensive to fix than just a set of lifters. My advice is keep running it and ignore the tick. They will run for...
The most common manual is the NP435 4 speed, which is what came in civilian trucks from the 70s to the mid 80s. You can also swap in a NV4500 5 speed which would gain you an overdrive gear which could help economy on longer trips.
MSD is a good upgrade and can improve fuel economy a little, but improves driveability a lot more. As far as any great improvement in economy, about the best thing you could do is swap to a manual transmission and swap in a normal part time front axle and NP205 part time transfer case. A...
