RE: confused?
If that has a D60 in it, grab it. It will be 30 spline with external drive flanges which can be swapped for Selectro hubs. It is a good kingpin axle with normal cone bearings and flat top knuckles perfect for a high steer setup.
As for the unit bearing deal, the term was coined...
Dual 11.00x20s on a bob'd Deuce. It's for sale on the M715 Zone board by one of our members. http://m715zone.proboards102.com/index.cgi?board=sale&action=display&thread=1159882483
So let me get this straight, Bjorn is towing the 8x8 home from Oklahoma with a towbar? Or was he just moving it around? I bet that thing steers wonderful on the towbar since both front axles steer. If he's towing it, somebody has to get a pic of that! That's probably borderline scarier...
That looks to be a W200 chassis cab that was built as a fire truck of some sort. They are actually fairly common to have the D60 up front. More for the GVWR than anything I believe.
Those keep popping up. I think Idaho Motor Pool had a few of them, Oshkosh Equipment has a nice one too I think. I think they are Detroit powered, note the forward exit exhaust. Oddly enough, we have a 50 something model dual line wrecker here with that cab on it and a 361 big block gas engine.
I would worry about the front wheel bearings if you are going to put 38s under it. Actually, I would worry about the front Dana 44 holding up with 38s and any off road abuse. I'd want a Dana 60 front axle for anything over a 35" tire with any abuse in it's future. The 318 can be built to put...
Rubber decays just like everything else. There's not much you can do about it once they are dry rotted. You can make them look better with a little shine like some many of the monkeys on Ebay do, but there's really no help for it. If I remember right, WD-40 will eat tires up so that would...
Definitely looks like there has been an engine swap. Hood is obviously sloped upwards to cover a larger radiator and the air and oil filters outside are definitely something odd. I'd skip it also. I've run into a few Deuces like that around here that were used as pulpwood trucks or misc...
Keep it simple and get the stuff from a J20 or J30 Jeep pickup. Better chance of getting stuff to bolt up. I'm putting the brakes system off of my '74 W200 dodge and it is definately not a bolt up deal. I'm going to have to do a little figuring to get the pushrod length right. Check over at...
RE: Here
Miltrucks had one of those like that in excellent shape if I remember correctly. I drooled over it and his long wheelbase Deuce tractor as a camping RV type rig.
I'd skip the cruise control. Most of the aftermarket units for older vehicles are pretty poorly made and have issues after they get a few years on them.
As for the M880 series, everyone knows I'm a Mopar nut and how much I like the older Dodge Rams, but they really are good trucks. The only...
