Road Runner, huh? We've had a few of those. What are the details? Presently we have a '71 383 4 speed Bird. Curious yellow with the black strobe stripe.
From what I have been told the Buchanan bunch is priced a bit ridiculous. Like $1000 and up, per Deuce axle. I don't know of anyone here locally that has been out to see them in a long time, and the word of mouth reports are a bit conflicting. some say they still have a few Deuces sitting...
I agree with Longhunter. While I am not familiar with M37's specifically, what you describe is typical of a vehicle with vapor lock. Another thing that could be wrong is a malfunctioning ignition coil or condensor. They run fine until you shut it off, then they heat sink and won't run again...
VA does require trailer inspections on trailers over a certain length and weight. Basically if it's big enough to haul something, I think you have to do the inspection deal. Last I heard on the fender deal was that VA required it on new ones, but I don't know if they would make you retrofit...
We were discussing this exact point on the M715Zone today. I found the same page you did, lol. We were disussing what to use in the closed knuckles of out front Dana 60s. Appearantly, a lot of typical wheel bearing grease conforms to the listed NGLI-2 (grade 2) and Chrysler MS-3701. Time to...
Welcome, Digger!
I've been watching one here locally that is supposedly for sale, but I can't seem to track down the owner. If I can ever get in touch with them maybe I can join the Va. Deuce crowd.
That has always been a problem with these forums. It's too public and there is no easy way to make them private. If you make a members only section, they will just register and read the stuff anyway. On our gaming clan's forums we have a "member's only" forum to discuss our tactics in...
I'd look at either an M37 Dodge or a M715 Kaiser-Jeep, since it seems you are interested in the older vehicles. Anything from the WWII era demands a high price, but there are still good deals out there, but parts are harder to find. Vintage Power Wagons still has tons of stuff for the M37...

Good story, BTW. One of these days I'll get a Deuce. Until then, I hope to at least get a few looks and waves with my 715.
Hey, that's still not bad to paint a truck that big for $70. A lot better than Maaco, lol. I'm painting my 715 for the exact reason you did. It's cheap and touch up paint is readily available. I figure between wire wheels, paint and primer I should have about $75-80 in mine when I get done...
Yeah, I've been experimenting with that stuff on my 715. It actually looks real good and lays nice when you use the red oxide colored primer. I didn't have a lot of luck getting it to look right with the grey primer they recommend on the can. If you take you time you can eliminate the spray...
Horn tone is controlled by by the length and diameter of the horn. One thing that worked for me and my set of 128 dbl Hadleys was using snow caps. You can get them at most stuck stops. Scuff them up and paint them OD and pop them on, and it will take a little of the "brassy" sound out...
Yeah, with all the 911 stuff drawing so much attention and much needed respect to the Fire Depts, I can see leaving it like that. I remember that one off ebay too, lol. Get one of the top companies to make you a vinyl cargo cover in red to match.
Priest? You guys do know Rob Halford is on "the other team", don't you? Sorry, just had to say it, lol. I have a good friend of mine that is a huge JP fan, and I like to kid him about that all the time. Good classic metal though I actually think I liked Fight better.
