Wont see a PMD on anything older than 94. I have never seen one on a mil HMMWV granted its been a while.... I think ECV's (M1151, 52, 65), and maybe even 1st gen up-armor M1114 may use these? PMD's fail for the exact same reasons that ESO's fail on DB2 IP trucks. Too much heat in the valley...
Have you tried replacing the ESO? I have seen the ESO's crack, a lot, or generally get weak over time (high winding resistance when hot). The coils in the ESO expand from heat and can cause the ESO to become too weak to move the metering valve to the fuel on position. Not to say it couldn't...
Remove the ESO cover, and turn the nut between the min/max springs 1/4 turn counter-clockwise as viewed from the front of the truck. This will change the position/relationship between the mini max springs and the metering valve linkage by lengthening the mini/max springs. This puts the min...
Leaking lines wont retard an IP. The retard/advance is a function of housing pump pressure (via one way check outlet) vs transfer pump pressure. Hot restart is a huge problem on non PMD pumps. It is not uncommon to see a 6.5 with the older 6.2 ESO installed. This was a supersession and the...
Looks like pleanty of room between the radiator and pulleys/fan. Need to shorten top/bottom hoses so they dont kink but no big deal. I think this is a great idea.
What type of TCM do you plan on? That TCI box looks good but still need a RPM signal and TPS. TPS is a no brainer. Whats your...
As soon as it dies leave the ign/hot and check for voltage at 54A on top of the ESO, if voltage is good, remove the one-way check-valve from the top of the IP then start it up. It will hunt for idle and leak a bit of fuel from the threaded hole you just pulled the valve from. If it starts...
The reg is solid state and not a servicable part. In the shop we use a "known good" reg for testing. 200A are newer dual voltage inductive (brush-less) if Im remembering correctly. Do you get any charging off the 12v lug? Not much that can fail on those alts except bearings and rectifier...
How does it do on-road. Do you feel like the 52 1/2-ton springs limit on-road very much, body roll and such? You running 1-ton sways, 1009 sways, no sways, quick disco's, ect? How is the ride compared to stock? Have you thought about making a single triangulated traction bar to keep the...
The 54" tank is the longest that will fit in a 1028 without.:
1. Relocate the tank.
2. Relocate the spring shackle.
The rear of the tank is almost against the forward/rear shackle, a longer tank wont fit.
20G OE tank 8' box = 54" long, 34G 1988-1996 8' box = 61" long. Notes from MTS indicate the 34gal tank does not fit 1-ton.... Not sure if this is due to physical size constraints, or the different neck location, Im guessing neck location. I can cut out the filler door, cut a new hole, and...
Looking at a bunch of tank pn# x-ref's I think yes. 85 C30 tank is common with some 87-90 TBI trucks that are in-tank pump/sender assy. Thanks for the nudge. These should work great with a Walbro 400lph.
I know I have at some point run across a great thread where someone found the...
Anybody swap in a EFI gasser? Did you run the OE tank and find a in-tank sender with pump that would work in-tank? Or just plumb off of what is there and do an inline pump? I would prefer to go intank with the pump if I can. Can I just use a later model tank, sender/pump, and toss that onto...
What (if anything) is different about mounting the 241 vs the 208 behind a 700r4? Looks like the 241 is a tad deeper reduction, has revised lubrication, and SYE is available.... Maybe a good option?
I have found a 208 27sp but it comes with the shorty... im not keen on forking over $50-$100 for the tall adapter for a $100 tc. I guess nothing some square tube and angle can't take care of.
If you dont get the center section high enough, it will back up spent oil into the CHRA, at which point it will start to blow past the seal ring on the turbine and you will have a nice smoke generator. I wouldnt even think about doing it without knowing for certain I had enough gravity working...
Ill hit the local JY's this weekend and see what I can come up with. Side note, at some point I will likley be asking to borrow a TV bracket from a DB2 IP from someone that has been able to score an OE unit. I need to fab one and Ill make a drawing while Im at it. Of course Im happy to pay...
Thanks. All the early 90s 700r4s im running across are 241s. Maybe I need to cast a wider net. My thought was the later 700r4s would benifit from years of product development and revisions that would lend to the durability of the trans.
How about the output commonality between 1/2-1ton...
