    Deuce Winch Stump Pulling

Took a little over an hour to cut the roots and the winch plucked it right out.

    Deuce Winch Stump Pulling

My 3/8 socket wrench fits the square perfectly. Funny, Just was outside to measure it and plan my winch rebuild and I notice the lock tab had bent just enough to keep the drum clutch lever from moving. It works fine. Rookie mistake. At least I did more research on the winch and a flush...

    Deuce Winch Stump Pulling

Plan is to check the fluid when I get my 3/8 breaker bar adapter. Fluid plugs are stuck shut, and they are smaller than the 1/2 inch square drive plugs on the diffs and trans. Looking at the TMs there are only a few parts on the clutch side. Looks easy enough if I need to rebuild. I should...

    Deuce Winch Stump Pulling

Well looks like I will just be pulling with a heavy chain or strap from the back. Makes more sense that way. Nothing to really damage, and can use the weight of the truck along with the engine. Just for the heck of it I cut the roots on a older jackpine stump out back. Took a little over an...

    Deuce Winch Stump Pulling

I think I will go with a tow strap. Dosn't stretch. Can't jerk it like a snatch strap through. I can just imagine a stump rocketing over the truck or coming through the softtop to say hi :|

    Deuce Winch Stump Pulling

Thanks! I always wondered why these tables cost so much. Wow just a pine slab on a stump. Wait until you have to find a stump, debark it, plane the bottom perfectly, then slab a 1500lb log with a husky 394xp, dry the slab, then plane/sand the slab. Also have to apply messy epoxy finish and make...

    Deuce Winch Stump Pulling

I use the stumps as table and chair legs. Makes very cool furniture that can be sold for a good price. The stumps I buy are either removed by hand (takes ages) or are grabbed out with heavy machinery and cleaned. I still have to debark, wash, and plane the bottoms flat. I've debated on doing a...

    Deuce Winch Stump Pulling

I think I figured that out the first time I tested it. Lots of processes involved, spotter, safety, and potential to break something. Looks like the tow strap is the way to go. Usually I would buy cedar stumps which were easily removed with a chainsaw due to the flared support roots being...

    Deuce Winch Stump Pulling

Well I finally tested my front winch for the first time since picking up the truck. The drum clutch lever was stuck and took a few taps with a hammer, liberal application of WD40, and running the pto to break it free. The first 50ft to 100ft of the cable was full of kinks from a poor winding...

    Tire Help

Here are some pics of the tires. This is the right front tire. The ugliest one. Rust on rim and rubber has cracks. Tread is good. Here is a close up of the ring. Here are the cracks. Wear on rears. Left front. Truck in full glory. Hauling wall panels for lumber kiln.

    Tire Help

Thanks for the advice all! My dad went back to auto value and will pick up the chuck and other connections. Going with the straight foot Milton chuck and hope it works. I figured I should probably set everything up for running my air tools off the truck also. Adding a quick connect to the air...

    Tire Help

After purchasing a deuce in July and a period of neglect for about a month or so (vacations/camping/travel!), I need to start working on my truck to make it safe for wood hauling this Autumn and ready to store during our brutal winters, then about 100 miles of travel per week to farmers markets...

    M35A2 Insurance in Michigan

Hello all It seems my family is the one of the only few in Upper Michigan who own a M35A2. Not suprising due to low population and no air force bases or GL auction lots. After my father and I got our deuce we found most insurance companies and agents up here did not even know what the truck...

    Wisconsin Deuce Recovery

We finally got a plan for $600 a year from State Farm, with a 5000 mile cap. They said we have 3 drivers in the house and the truck has tandem axles, therefore the higher price. It also seems insurance costs are higher in the U.P compared to the L.P due to poor weather and roads.

    Wisconsin Deuce Recovery

State Farm was even more expensive, at $1000 a year for full coverage. They won't let us just get liability. They said you must have full coverage. Perhaps it is just the insurance agent we are dealing with.

    Wisconsin Deuce Recovery

All our local insurance companies want like 800-1000 a year for insurance. Dad tried calling State Farm but nobody answered so will try Gulfway, Farmers, etc. Oddly farm and log plates are about $170 according to the secretary of states online calculator. 10 or $20 more than personalized plates.

    Wisconsin Deuce Recovery

The 350 mile trip back home went flawless! My dad drove it back while I followed with the support vehicle. M35A2 with D turbo, winch, soft top, heater kit, bows, troop seats, and cargo cover for $4800. Almost bought the hardtop from another truck for $400 but Jeff didn't have any spare tops...
