Water Manifold Rail Coolant Hose too Big?

Around 700 miles later and everything is fine :grd:

Water Manifold Rail Coolant Hose too Big?

I was able to get two short pieces of 1 5/8 hose at auto value and changed them this evening. Soaking the hoses in hot water and lubricating with silicone made them go on easy. The gaskets looked ok when I pulled the manifolds off. One ripped because I pinched it while wiggling the manifolds...

Water Manifold Rail Coolant Hose too Big?

I already replaced the hoses and cut new gaskets. I am just worried the 1 3/4 hoses will leak. It is bolted on now. If I redo it, the gaskets should be ok.

    UPFINN's Deuce Build

More photos of the redone cab and my muffler install. The muffler is the walker 21470. I had a turbo flange welded to the bottom to secure it to the stock flange, with a rain cap on top. Very easy bolt on design. Cab and engine bay are lined with Al's Liner over Heat and Noise reducer. I still...

    UPFINN's Deuce Build

Everything on the truck is complete, except for painting the front drums and wheels, changing oil and filters, and addressing the wrong size hoses I used on the water manifolds. I used hoses that were 1 3/4" instead of 1 5/8".

    UPFINN's Deuce Build

I had to wait a few days to let the latex dry. It was cold out, so I put some box fans in the cab and round fans in the engine bay. Had a bit of a scare with one of the fans and good thing I was there to catch it. I had clamped a fan to the block near the injector pump and fuel lines and when I...

Water Manifold Rail Coolant Hose too Big?

I was thinking of doing that. Will I need a replacement gasket for it? Actually, my valves should be adjusted soon anyway.

Water Manifold Rail Coolant Hose too Big?

I went to town to get more hose. NAPA and Auto Value were closed but Auto zone and Orileys were open. The last time I bought hose at Orileys I got it cut to size. I had a coolant leak which I patched with a beer can :grd: on the way home hauling lumber. It was an emergency and I measured the...

Water Manifold Rail Coolant Hose too Big?

I just replaced the two little coolant hoses for the water manifold rails on top of the engine. I used 1 3/4 hose. For the gaskets, I cut them out of a sheet of blue rubber coolant gasket material. When I took the hoses off and scraped off some of the old paint, it said they were 1 5/8. aua...

    UPFINN's Deuce Build

I made a lot of progress on the truck over the past few weeks. The seats are repainted and reupholstered, paint in cab is completed, canvas shift boots installed, and rear axles are finished. All that is left now is to bolt the seats in, bolt the heater back on, weld the flange on the new...

    UPFINN's Deuce Build

Today I sprayed the Al's Liner. I took some sneak peak photos. I will take more tomorrow. Good product. Dries fast so you need to be quick. Sprays good for 20 minutes, after 20 it can be brushed with streaks. At 1 hour it is too thick too brush. I does not go as far as the sound deadener. You...

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

It looks like all together you put 4 gallons in the cab? I have 1 gallon in the cab of the sound insulation, and 1 gallon of bed liner to go on top. On my truck I also sprayed the underside of the hood and engine bay sheet metal. I am hoping that will help. I have yet to drive it.

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

I am currently doing a similar project. Spraying a heat and noise reducer in the cab and top coating with bed liner. How much did the Lizard Skin reduce the sound?

    UPFINN's Deuce Build

I have drew up a design for some custom mud flaps. The mud flaps on my truck are looking pretty rough, and I need to paint/decorate them. My plan is to rough up the flaking carc and coat them with black plasti-dip rubberized paint. I will use tracing paper to transfer the design, then paint it...

    UPFINN's Deuce Build

This week on Sunday I sprayed Al's Heat and Noise reducer in the cab and engine bay. It was kind of tricky to apply. It is a latex elastomeric ceramic coating similar to the much more expensive Lizard Skin. The directions said to spray with the hopper/texture gun for best results, which I did...

    UPFINN's Deuce Build

I also had to replace the coolant hoses on top of the engine, and while removing the water manifold tubes all of the gaskets broke. I had to cut out new ones since I could not find any to order online. Now I need to find the torque of the bolts that hold the manifold back on.

    UPFINN's Deuce Build

Here are some pictures of the Rustoleum Truck Bed Coating I sprayed in the bed. It turned out ok. I used a hopper/texture gun for the final attempt. For the first attempt at spraying the liner, I used a shutz gun, which clogs unless you thin with acetone and that is not recommended, which I did...

    UPFINN's Deuce Build

Here are some pictures. Brakes look like new! Really lucked out on this truck, everything is near new or freshly serviced except for the electrical system. This was the rear axle. The middle looks just as good and the front is probably ok too.

Bed Liner and Primer Reaction Fail. How to Fix?

Liner attempt #2. Much better than before, but not great. Should be ok for use after a few touch ups. Over the last week I stripped off the peeling liner and primer, then cleaned, sanded, and cleaned again. This afternoon I used a hopper/texture gun to shoot the liner. I have never used a...

    UPFINN's Deuce Build

I also have finished servicing and repainting the rear tandem. The wheel bearings and brake shoes looked almost new! I cleaned and re-packed the bearings, cleaned and painted the drum and wheels, and adjusted the brakes. The brake adjusters were tricky. Instead of .020in at the top, and...
