I had been contacted by the local Marine unit, Alpha Co, 1st Bat, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Div. about bringing one of my military trucks down to their depot for the kick-off to their Toys for Tots campaign. Having worked with them before for the color guard at the Silver Lake Military Vehicle...
Well I've had the 4a084 motor running good for over a week now, It just been that I have not had much spare time to get the shelter out and inflated. Plus it has been so hot that you just melt in the sun here which just wasn't helping to modivate me to do it. But finally had some time and good...
The P.O. ripped the rubber intake boot on my 4a084 that's in the chemical shelter trailer. This is the boot that runs from the air cleaner to the carb. Anyone have one or know where to get one? I tried Saturn when I bought some other parts for it to get it running but they didn't have any...
Anyone know the bridgeweight class of the 105 trailers? I would like to add it to the 105 that my M51 shelter is mounted to. Also what would be the combined for the front of the deuce when I have the trailer on?
While I have been waiting on a few replacement parts to arrive from a Surplus Dealer for the 4a084 motor in the M51 shelter trailer, I have found some other interesting things. The shelter unit and the generator all seem to be dated from 1968. But the marking on the trailer seemed to indecate...
Well after driving for 18 of the last 36 hours, I'm home with my latest green toy. I picked up a very complete M51 chem shelter at a very good price. Everything appears to be there. The trailer only has some surface rust around the bottom edges. Tires look to be in decent shape with lots of...
Well this is getting close at about a month away and I haven't seen much chatter about it like last year. So here, lets get things rolling and figure out who all is going to try and make it this year.
I plan on being there at least sat. the 18th through sun. the 19th. with both my M35 and M715.
Well it's getting close to that time of year again for the Military Vehicle Show in Silver Lake Michigan. The Show is on saturday September 15th 2007. This will be the second year for this show and it just seams to be getting better and bigger. Plus vehicle entry is FREE! I meet several Steel...
It seems that no matter how tight you pull your canvas cover to tie it down you always seem to get some flapping of the roof section against the bows. Well, when I was having a rip repaired in my canvas cover from the flapping, I had the canvas shop add two extra eyelets to each end of the...
My truck had been like others recently making oil. Well I figured it was the FDC letting diesel into the crankcase. After reading up on it here on SS I found a good diagram showing the bypass. Now my deuce has been a good running deuce even though as far as I can tell it has never had the...
I was wondering if anyone had a good source on the straps that mount on the bow corners and hold the cover when rolled up. I need a full set of 10 for my deuce. I looked at several of the online vendors and no one listed them, but I know that most carry a lot more than what they list. So if...
This past weekend I took the deuce down to the local Christmas parade like usual. I normally take the 715 also, but due to all the snow I didn't want to expose it to a bunch of road salt. So I strung some garland and bows around the deuce and off we went.
Who else decorates thier trucks...
This show is coming up soon and I wanted to give everyone a chance to make arangments and plans to try and come to it. The show will be Sat. Sept 16th in Silver Lake MI. near the Silver Lake Sand Dunes State Park. The show is FREE to visit or to display military vehicles in. Any military vehcile...
I was looking today and realized I didn't have any decent recent pics of the M715 since I had spent all my time finishing up the deuce. So I ran out and took a few and posted them up to my site. Here are a few
The rest are here http://www.davidallenracing.com/M715.htm
It was just a lot of...
I took some new pics the other day of my restored M35 that I finished up last Nov. It snowed before I could get some decent pics of it completed. Now that the snow is gone I took some recent pics. Enjoy!
Well things have gone ahead and we are going to hold the 1st annual Silver Lake Sand Dunes Military vehicle show & swap meet this fall. It will be held in conjunction with the Fall Apple Festival on Sat. Sept. 16th. I'm doing all the organizing for the event for the Silver Lake Chamber of Comm...
Yesturday I finished up the last of the pieces needed to complete the restoration of my 67' M35a2 that I bought this fall. I'm just getting ready to head out the door to head to a Christmas parade with it and my 67' M715. My big goals were to have the truck finished for the parades, and I just...
Well I painted the cab and front half of the frame yesturday evening. Once it cures I start to remount the fenders and hood and things. I'll be cutting things tight for my Thanksgiving deadline but I should make it. Hopefully the new bed comes back from the sand blaster in the next few days...
Started to pull off the front sheet metal to get it ready for paint.
Rust repair patches welded in under the door on both side.
Tomorrows project will be to grind down the welds and prep the areas for primer.
While removing the front fender I found that some dumba$$ welded the fender to the...
Tuesday 10/25 I went across state here in Michigan to pick up the new bed for my M35 to replace the current one that is beat to hell and back. The PO use to haul logs with my truck and beat the bed hard. So I found a decent replacement bed with troop seats for $200 here in Michigan.
The wood...
