That truck is AWESOME, looks great in her natural enviroment....the boonies.....and your first job with her to boot, I hope she becomes another trusted useful tool in your stable! JOB WELL DONE! AZ
It concerns me that you stated she was hopping, generally when a deuce or 5-ton starts hopping in the sand, that means your front wheel drive is not engaged and/or working properly. Had it happen on a M52A2, and a early gas M35. On the M52A2 the air pressure valves were dirty and sticking, on...
Beautiful job, beautiful truck, looks like she just came from the "factory." Hopefully she will fulfill all the tasks you have intended for her to tackle. I am humbled by your fabrication skills.

I really admire your ingenuity, and craftsmanship, this is one cool beast, when you get her running, if you could post up a video of her on and off road.....that's about as close as some of us will ever get to the real thing, it would be great to see, and thanks for keeping us up to date...

If it's not a "state secret" what is the paint/code, for the paint you use on the truck in your avatar and, on your M123 crane truck? It looks pretty close to the Israeli sand-grey, that is a cool color.
Lov'n this latest build, wish I had those skills, this thing is going to be awesome...
My M1009, wouldn't shift to third, a guy showed me the fix, at least in my case. On the passenger side of the transmission toward the rear is a plate with 4 bolts carefully remove that and make sure nothing flys out into space under spring pressure, but if I remember right, that is not an issue...
Gentlemen:
About 7-8 years aggo i installed a 6.2 Humvee engine in my M1009 Blazer, I had to swap everything except the heads and block, including the vacuum pump, it was easy to do outside of the vehicle.
This morning when I pulled my non-working pump out a long 6 sided steel shaft came out...
To marcusoreallyus, thanks for the rude critisism that helped alot, to bad you didn't put any technical information in your post. Obviously you are smarter than me, and knew why I made the decision I did, to keep driving.
To everyone else:
I haven't driven the truck in months and the night...
Friday driving my M1009 home from work I saw a bunch of smoke in my rearview mirror doing about 75 MPH down the freeway.....it was from me!
I pulled into the right lane so I could pull over but once I slowed down to about 65MPH the smoke stopped, I had about 4-5 miles to go to my turn off, so I...

Nice truck, and a nice shop to work in, you're going to have a blast in the Deuce, they are GREAT off road although without lockers ad/or a winch you will want o avoid mud at all costs, but other than that they are pretty invinsible. Good luck with your new truck, and the painiting.

I am interested in a kit if you get it on the market.
I agree with Rickf's assesment in regards to all the nay-sayers.
I figure if you can't sell the entire kit due to legal issues, then just make the brackets for us less capable folks along with the parts we need to obtain so...
Well after almost 3 years, I FINALLY got around to doing this modification, I pulled my mount off the truck took it to work, and elongated the slots with a plasma cutter, so I could rotate the tire towards the outside of the truck away from the parking brake drum.
Tm america was correct, there...
Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen:
My driver's side door latch failed, I read the SS article regarding repairing a broken door latch, and decided to take mine apart and beat it back into submission.
But alas worn parts was not my issue, a broken spring was....you know that "curly Q" one...
