What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Enhanced string method sets parallel from center of hubs. Essentially a square box [emoji403] Thrust is controlled by even toe on each tire relative to square box. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rear toe alignment using string method. Really fun and effective for a low buck correction. Used greased fiber board for slip plates. LR was almost 2” toe out, RR was 1”. Specs must have been a lot different on the 1151 with 1500+ lbs of armor pre demil. Set total rear toe out about 1/8” as I...

    Rear composite to LED conversion

Scored a pair at auction but does not include buckets. What bucket do I need or gut the composite bucket to mount? Looking for TM coverage as well. Truck-lite 07240 https://www.truck-lite.com/media/wysiwyg/TL_Military_Brochure.pdf Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Rear camber alignment correction. LR was at +2.3 +/-0.1 Took out all (3) thick shims for a -1.5 correction per the TM. Actual correction measured closer to -1.9. This job is a bear [emoji199] on the ECV/REV trucks. Had to remove half shaft to get enough working room on the bolts of the rear...

M1165A1 needs steering box - which one?

Potentially however the frame bolt pattern is different. The frame would have to be reworked along with different steering linkage parts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    GovPlanet Bizarre Truck Configuration

Standard retainers can be drilled to the ECV/REV pattern if you do not mind a few extra holes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Polyurethane bushings

Curious if any forum members have actually used urethane control arms on the HMMWV. I’ve used them in other applications with no issues. The 1151 I’m working on needs new bushings.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    North American Electric Vehicles

Not affiliated but passing on HMMWV/H1 EV conversion pricing that was sent to me [emoji28] Wow, not sure who the target [emoji457] market is given pricing level. [emoji848] https://northamericanev.com Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    M1097A2 Driveshaft

This is a two piece shaft. Indexing is maintained by a master spline between the two halves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    M1097A2 Driveshaft

I’ve rebuilt two front HMMWV driveshaft assemblies. Both were balanced previously with obvious balance weights attached. As long as you maintain indexing should be fine. Highly recommend replacing joints at the same time as carrier bearing. Relatively low cost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Hissing from the Cadillac valve

It’s normal. An insulator between the valve and mount will suppress the noise. I’ve run a Fernco sleeve of the appropriate ID in the past with good results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Camber/Alignment

Custom made adjustable upper A arms is the most typical aftermarket handling of this issue I’ve seen. XHP has these for a modest fee [emoji2357] https://xhp.parts/product/billet-upper-control-arms-for-hummer/ Prior comments on half shaft angularity stand. If you want to correct both and lift...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Replaced LR lower ball joint and serviced + adjusted hub. Hub was mis-assembled & loose. Bearings and gears were good surprisingly. Steering arm bolts were loose. Ball joint bolts and stud loose. Radius arm ball joint warn out, on the list now… More discoveries of great work by Pvt...

Tested and fixed LF turn signal lights. Had to deal with galvalytic corrosion to the mounting bolts, bad ground. Installed new packard boots, bolts and fabricated a backing plate. Copper anti-seize on the mounting bolts.

Finished [emoji736] installing missing LH upper cargo shell close out piece. Lots of corrosion and drill damage to repair as well. Of note I was pleasantly surprised to find corrosion prevention tape factory installed between the cargo shell and upper hinge latches. Sent from my iPhone...

Trying panel plugs for armor hole fill. Like that they are readily available and non ferrous. I may go to bolts with nylon shoulder washers in the future. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
