I have a new block heater on the way and plan to go ahead and do a full drain and fill on the coolant. TM says ethyl glycol antifreeze but wondering if anyone has used a specific brand or type (long life, etc.) or will wally-world brand do just fine for the CAT 3116?
Thanks for any assistance,
OD
Another quick and very cheap mod to add a door pin switch to the LMTV to turn on a dome light.
I quickly realized that in the dark when climbing into the LMTV and getting it fired up was an inconvenience screaming to be addressed.
Not wanting to drill or cut anything I decided to use the...
Way too many projects going but I have been working on a couple of small mods and here is one....
I am somewhat of a light freak when it comes to work and area lights on my off-road vehicles. Added a little 10W LED work light on the underside of the passenger side antenna mount that is the...
Any interest in a military vehicle get together and hang out when the weather warms up in say April timeframe in Missouri?

Thanks!

Have not installed it yet or ran wiring but wanted to share a pic of my custom switch pod for the LMTV.
The case is the standard LMTV switch box that comes with switch holes. I found out quickly that the standard switch holes are too big for the fun 12v switches you can buy everywhere online...
Did the switch from the 15w40 engine oil in the transmission on my 1997 M1078 LMTV with WTEC II to ATF.
Followed "8-9 Transmission Oil Filter Replacement" procedure found in TM 9-2320-365-20-3 page 8-32. However, I deviated from the procedure and did NOT remove the front driveshaft (WARNING...
Finally received the title from GP for the M1102 and got it titled and registered... by the way military vehicle and trailer registration in Missouri is a REAL PAIN!
Just went and picked up an S250 from HMMWV Nut (had a great time checking out the other stuff he has for sale and talking with...
Wasn't quite sure what this test set was when I bid $25 bucks on GL but I wound up with it. The kit looks pretty complete but no TM or CDs... I haven't done much research yet but I am hoping this would have capabilities to use it on the 97 LMTV...
Maybe Suprman may know more details?
Any help...
Thanks to Lmtv772 sending me a drivers door glass my LMTV now is all sealed up. In addition to the shattered window not reported in the GP inspection report the inside handle would not open the door. After pulling the window components apart I also looked for a lock rod clip that would work with...
OK, issue number two on the 97 LMTV... after topping off the fuel tank and firing up the truck the fuel gauge is inaccurate. Does not read full. Sometimes it shows 1/4 tank then when running skips up to 1/2 tank but never reads full. while running every now and then it does a tic-toc from its...
I was wondering if people leave their cab air springs engaged (auto leveling) when they are not operating their trucks or do you release the knob at the manifold control box?
Thanks!

1997 S&S M1078 8300 miles. Just cleaned up after transport from GP.
Went out for the first test drive of the M1078 early yesterday morning. Warmed the truck up to 165, verified CTIS is in Hwy mode with a SOLID red light and tire pressures are at 55psi. Around 25-30 mph the CTIS Ovspd warning...
I don't believe this has been posted before. I was searching around my troubleshooting folder and I have a couple of images from the Army PM Magazine (the cartoon tips magazine) articles for the LMTV so I thought why not try to see if they are online and if they have an index for FMTVs... Yes...
I know the LMTV weighs in just a tad under 18,000 pounds so what's a few hundred off the top but I was thinking dead weight is dead weight...
Removed the front lifting eyes behind the cab they weigh 60 pounds each.
Removed the spreader bars just in front of rear wheels they weigh 80-83 pounds...
SUCCESS: LMTV arriving, needed a jump
Finally getting the LMTV delivered today at noon. The transport driver indicated the truck is going to need a jump to fire it up. I know the batteries are wired in series/parallel, and I have a 7.5amp 24 volt charger but I don't think it will give it enough...
Lots of pics out there from almost ever angle of the LMTV from GovPlanet and posts here except the toolbox and area behind the cab as viewed from behind the cab...
Can someone post a few pics of the toolbox both inside and looking at it from the cab back as it site under the spare tire with the...

I "borrowed" this pic off of another post in this forum but I didn't see an answer to the questions:
1. Does anyone know a part number for the in cab A/C setup?
2. Does anyone know a source to get one?
Red Dot appears to be the manufacture and based on other posts it was produced for the...
I could have sworn I posted a year or so ago about the camper conversion on my ADC 1000A Hydraulic Repair Trailer but I see there are no posts from me so I wanted to share a few pics of my rig.
I did a complete transformation on the trailer including adding on board water supply, water heater...
I posted in the classifieds "wanted" but also wanted to ask in here if anyone has had this problem and figured out a fix or a new part source....
OK, getting ready to take the M116A2 base trailer pieces in to the powder coater tomorrow... ONLY snag I ran into was when I tried to unbolt the 4...
