I'm pretty sure they were factory. Different trucks, different years, different models - identical military 12 volt plugs. With the same type of connector cover as on the STE-ICE cover.
Thanks for your view. That bit on hot for the disconnect is what I would have done too but it seems a number of 4WD sites say negative. I am going to disregard that nonsense as internet stupidity.
And I am in the camp of "no" on breaker or fuse. With potentially a 500 A load at peak, I feel...
Continued the winch install.
As posted above, the winch plate mounting holes were significantly oversized compared to the corresponding mounting holes on the winch itself. In the photo below, the winch is yellow so you can see clearly the disparity:
Got in touch with a machinist on ebay...
Hydraulic would be great but my long search for an ECV front plate failed. I will definitely not be running that winch more than 30-50 seconds at a time with a 10 minute cooldown (as per the manual).
Remove the radiator and go top down, of course!

Lt. Col. McCuistion was an F105 Thunderbolt pilot in Vietnam. He earned two Silver Stars and was shot down over...
I tested my new horn with the stock horn using some alligator clips. I wasn't impressed that the stock horn added anything.
I did have to remove the front bumper, that took some time, but I am putting in a winch later this week so needed to anyway.

Just wired up a simple harness to hook it up. HMMWV stock horn is set up with two Packard connectors. To wire the new horn, disconnected those two and then wired in two identical "Y"s - the base of...
