Definitely need a winch on any off road vehicle, HMMWV or not, for self recovery. Whether it's front or rear mounted, hydraulic or electric, don't matter. Without it you stay stuck.

Add zeroes to the VIN. If your serial number is 123456, register it as 12345600000000000. You can also try 00000000000123456. You need 17 digits total.
