Since I’m getting older. Well it’s the miles not so much the age. I can’t push the clutch anymore. I can’t lift my right leg high enough to hit the brakes without trying to slam them.
So here’s my thoughts. Pull the LDT and manual. Install a Cummins P pumped 6BT from a freight liner along with...
I have ended up with two 800 series 5ton carcasses at my house. Both are Cummins 250 trucks with manual transmissions. One of them has a 20k PTO winch on the front and a 45k winch on the back. The PTO for the rear is still on the Tcase but everything else is missing. It is a chain drive winch...
The impact sheared them off. So now cylinders 3&5 will need to be drilled and extracted. I don’t have a problem doing it. It’s just a little more work. I’m going to remove the injectors and have a vacuum to pull any shavings that might get in the cylinder out. The vacuum will be on the whole...
I need some advice. Three of the glow plugs on my 6.5 are stuck. Not the normal swollen stuck. But the threads are actually seized in the block. What do y’all recommend for the best way to remove them. If I apply more torque I’ll shear them off.
I use my M998 as a truck a lot. I hauled some hay this weekend and ended up with a cabin full of hay. I made a mid gate out of some scrap .060 6061 T6, some 2024 T3 1/4” L angle and some 1/4 turn Camlocs. It takes about a minute to install or remove.
Saturday I got to spend a little time with the HMMWV. I ordered a Smittybilt seat from Zon and made a couple brackets. I figured I’d test the drivers side before I replace them all. The seats that were in her were for skinny people. I don’t fit that bill anymore.
I have the 6.5 with the three speed trans in my HMMWV. I just bought two 6.2 diesels from my local Chevy dealer. They have been on the shelf for years. When the 6.5 dies I’ll be swapping in one of the 6.2s. For my money I’ll stick with a 6.2 all day any day.
I have the pattern for the Marine Corps digital camouflage. But I want to paint this one different. My F350 is already the digi cam. My Deuce is desert tan. My 53 CJ is about to be OD green. So different is required.
When I first enlisted in the Marine Corps in 93 there were a few salt and pepper camouflage vehicles running around. Does anyone have a picture of a HMMWV painted in salt and pepper camouflage? I want to paint mine similar. Thanks in advance.
So she is definitely shifting into 3rd. I back the timing off until the line on the block and the line on the injection pump are joined. She still runs well so I’m hoping she gets a little better than the 5 mpg I got on her first trip out.
