I’m don’t think it’s going to be too bad. Even the cotter pins slid out pretty easy. It’s weird…some parts of this truck have quite a bit of rust and other parts don’t have any. The damn pins holding the drop sides for the bed were horrible. Took me a week and possibly some hearing loss...
If I take the u-bolts off of my spring pack can I take this top part off to access the bolts behind it? Seems like it would give me a lot better access to knock the hell out of them to free them up.

Oreilly’s sells some stuff called Free All in a chrome can with blue letters. It’s worked miracles on my truck. Spray and let it sit for a while. Works better than anything I’ve ever used on freeing up rusted parts.
If you’re keeping the original rims and want something that will last quite a while you might want to look into some 11x20 g177s. I believe CSM army tires carries them or possibly Eastern.
The purpose of flipping the hubs is so when you put singles on the rear the tires track with the front. Otherwise the rear tires will run narrower than the front.
You take the hub and flip it the opposite direction and knock the studs out and install them the opposite direction.
My old deuce had a roll cage inside when I bought it that was made of 3 or 4 inch pipe which you can barely see in this picture. I was so busy working on other things on the truck that I really didn’t notice how good of an idea it was. Might have to call the guy who bought it and get a better...
I had some safety bars put on my two new dog bones today. Only four more to go and the work putting them on now. I’m doing this project a little at a time and figured I’d get the uppers done first and do two at a time as time and money allow.
