What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I had the awful death wobble on my 1028 and just replaced the broken plastic bushing with the Reid Racing Bronze Kingpin bushings from ORD. No more death wobble which was increased when the snow plow was on the front of the truck. I couldn't drive faster than 25mph from job to job.

Who saw the new TV show Diesel brothers?

I agree...but unfortunately drama is needed these days to keep the viewing audience engaged. If you didn't have the drama it would be just like the TRUCKS! Tv show (which isn't a bad thing). It's also sad to see their disregard for safety when sandblasting. He a made comment about sand...

    Fording Project

This sounds similar to what some Unimogs come with stock. Which if memory serves me correctly are pressurized somewhere between 1-3 psi.

If you don't want to use the google custom search feature on the top right of the page you could always look below at the "similar threads" section. I didn't notice the similar threads section until someone pointed them out to me.

What about soda blasting the doors? Or using walnut shells?

    HMMWV shakes bad

I disagree with that statement... I sold a set of 4 a couple of months ago to a local guy for $700 (I wanted $800 but let him talk me down to $700). I was super happy to get rid of them. They had 95% tread left. He was putting them on a jacked up Ford or Chevy.

Help on 5/4 ton CUCV purchase

I think you'll find the CUCV to be a great asset for general work. As you can see from my avatar I have a snow plow on mine and plow several commercial properties and several driveways. I have lost count of how many cords of firewood mine has carried home for my grandmother who heats with...

    Cucv upgrades.

Have you had them in the snow yet? I have heard that they don't produce enough heat to melt the snow that can potentially build up on them. I don't know this from personal experience tho. So hopefully you can tell us your experiences? My favorite mods are: -DH mod -ORD Reid Racing King-pin...

    Towing question

I have towed my M1008 w/37" tires with my M1028 w/ stock tires and it's a handful/pushes you around the turns. I have towed my M1008 w/stock tires w/my M1028 w/stock tires and it is a completely different experience (almost like towing a trailer w/out brakes). So I would attribute your issues...

What's wrong with a Gear Vendors Overdrive? It's the most plug and play solution for your application. And you don't need to add a clutch pedal and cut a new hole in the floor. They claim a 22-28% increase in mileage. Obviously this is just a suggestion. Here's a link to their webpage...

    Best Glow Plug Removal Tool?

I haven't had to use the tool yet but I'd personally stay away from Wellman glow plugs (they tend to swell). I've had great luck with AC Delco 60G's. You will have to grind down the spade side of the plug to make the electrical connection work or change out the engine side connection to fit...

    Noise dampening in HMMWV

While I don't own a HMMWV I do own a Unimog 404 and used this product with great success to reduce the cab temperature and noise. In a 404 the engine comes halfway into the cab. http://www.dynamat.com/automotive-and-transportation/automotive-restoration/hoodliner/ Although during the winter...

    406/Case MB-94 vs FLU419 for ranch

I would recommend doing a seach at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/unimog/ the questions you are asking have been asked before. Search for 406 or 419 there is a wealth of information over there. And most if not all of the people who are on that forum currently or have owned a Unimog. No...

    406/Case MB-94 for ranch

Did you miss these 2? I guess it depends on what you are looking to do with the MOG? Do you want to push snow? Bushog? Use a Scraper Blade? Crane? Harvesting? Hydraulic backhoe or front bucket? Also I have copied the closed auctions on GovPlanet for the Unimog 419 so you can see the prices...
