Well it is old , it has 5 lug combat wheels , so just a guess but WWII . Looks like some sort of bomb or flight line trailer . The EOD and # may help identify it more . Any other plates or frame #'s ? , looks like a neat trailer .
The stock axles are not that strong , remember the original engine was only about 100 hp . BTW , does that ride have the stock axles ? they might have put late late model axles into that M37 already after doing all that other work .
RESTORATION ? restored to what ? a HOT ROD M37 , depends what you want . We just sold a stock M37 through our club for $5000 US , Motor pool class , just needed paint and clean up . I would not spend the money on something like that , but that is up to to you . BTW , if those are the stock axles...

Burgundy is the official color , but if you are not concerned about keeping it "original" , it's your ride , so what ever looks good to you . Black would be good , especially if you are going "OD" with your seat covers . BTW , what happened at the "CAR SHOW" , you have got to tell us the story...
