On all the 005 and 006 ive worked on, the first thing that comes off is the IP and gets sent straight to the rebuild shop. All have been rebuilt. Now the issue with these 005 is the crankcase seals leaking oil. Also, change the oil drain valve and hose. Always leaking. Good luck.
I used a mcpherson ss460 as a replacement avr for my 805b. Worked like a charm and left all the original components in place. I placed it to the left of the voltage connection board and wired the sensing right there. Hope it helps.
That complete kit should solve the power generation issue. That said, I would not buy it till I make sure the unit produces power. Have you tried exciting it with a 9v battery to the f1 and f1 leads. The 9v will give you a momentary spike in power but will not generate 120v and it might just go...
Hey guys, I'm looking to award the engineer that came up with the horizontal radiator filler neck for the mep 802a and 803a series. This person must defy gravity with his designs. Any ideas for the prize are appreciated. Thanks
Alright, I managed to solve the problem. So after checking everything (fuel rack and lift pumps included) I ended up pulling all 4 injectors and pop testing them. Turns out one injector was bad and this caused it to die under full load. What angers me is that I was so confident that injectors...
Update. Checked the oil pressure with an external gauge and it runs at 36-40 psi constantly even when ot craps out and shuts down. So its not due to oil pressure.
This is not my first rodeo with this model since I own a few. I have performed all filter and fluid changes (oil twice since it came out dark after a few hours of testing). I have a load bank available and can incrementally add loads. The issue is that the unit, set to 62 hz, starts loosing...
Does anyone have the correct torque specs for this crankcase. Also, anyone have a gasket set that they would sell. Trying to avoid making a mess with permatex. :)
OK, I thought you had removed the filter container with the metal screen. You rotate it till you can pull it out and you will have that container with the fuel cap out of the way. Then you have enough space to put your hand in through the filler neck slits.
Pulling the sending unit out is too much work. I roll up my sleeves and fondle both floats till they are loose. I dont have trucker forearms so I can fit them inside the tank. :)
Lift pumps quite often go bad in my experience. It could be that you have built up enough pressure in the lines manually to start the unit but the fuel pump is worn or the diaphragm punctured that it cannot maintain a steady fuel supply. I believe your assessment is right and a bad diaphragm...
