    Alternator #1 no light

Throwing parts at your MV is a crap shoot at best , as they say take the time to read the TM's . It is not a difficult system to diagnosis once you get a understanding of it . Those GM alternators are some of the easiest to rebuild and parts are available . Just get yourself a decent VOM and you...

    World War II Trailer

There are two schools of thought on that question , some will only like it as is and some will completely restore it , depends on the person who owns it at the time . Myself I would restore it to in service status , at least on the outside . BTW , how many bullet holes does it have , obviously...

value of restored original MB vs. restored MB with repro body

Seems like the Jeep's are getting like Model T's and A's , you buy a bunch of REPO parts and make one ! Not the same as original at all , looks nice but differently not the same .

    World War II Trailer

If he up grades to a deuce rim with a set of NDT's , they might fit , i am not sure about the tire clearance . I wonder if a set of M37 tires and wheels would fit with out to much problem . I think it's cool , even had electric brakes . Man you could make that a "man cave" LOL ! Is it tin on the...

Steam from oil fill and dipstick

Pressure test is the way to go , listen and look for the leaks . With that much of a leak it should show it pretty easy to find. BTW , All that anti-freeze is really bad news for the rod and main bearings , usually wipes them out by washing the oil film off , so I would not run it to much until...

value of restored original MB vs. restored MB with repro body

Interesting question , we were having this very discussion at our monthly meeting recently . I would say a "ORIGINAL" anything is always worth more , but in the MV world what exactly is "ORIGINAL" , is it original if it was overhauled by the military or restored by a currant owner ? some MV's...

    World War II Trailer

A deuce rim might fit , 18" rim size is a puzzle , if you check the rim up close there may be some info on it , should at least have a date . How's the interior ? it would be cool at a show being towed by a CCKW !

    World War II Trailer

Looks like a standard Budd wheel used on WWII Dodge and M37's among others . What size is the rim and tire ? no info on the trailer any info plates on it ? BTW ,it's worth what somebody is willing to pay for it , hard to price out from a photo .

    Cucv steering column

I would also recommend a used GM tilt column , most pick a part salvage yards should have one . How bad is your old column , GM non tilt is a easy shaft to rebuild , just follow a GM Tech Manual and you should have no problem and all the parts are available . good luck

    Buying M1028, 50k or 150k miles?

NEVER use either or starting fluid in a 6.2 diesel or any diesel for that matter , especially a well used one . NFN , but that is one rough looking truck , what it's worth is what YOU are willing to pay for it . I also agree , do not DRIVE that back to Rochester , but that's just me , I do NOT...

    Vacuum Wipers

Doesn't take much vacuum to run the wiper motors , you could also try adding a vacuum reservoir , helps to even out the vacuum supply. why not go for the electric wiper motor route ? I think in the long run that would be easier . BTW , even when they are WORKING perfect , the wiper operation...

    Wire gauge

Thank you one and all for the info , ya , I was thinking 20-25 feet would be good . As for the wire , I will check DEl CITY , TSC and McMaster-Carr , see who has the best deal . Del City has welding wire in 25 foot rolls , which would be perfect . I already have some lugs and my lug tool , so...

    Wire gauge

I picked up some slave ends for a jumper set , and what I am trying to find out is what gauge wire is used on the jumpers sets . I would like to use Welding cable if possible as it is more flexible . it seems either # 1 or 2 , or maybe 0 . Also what is the typical length of a set , as the sets...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Painted the poles and brackets for the convoy lights . I think I have all the bits and pieces , could use somebody with access to a water-jet , the round disc that come with the kit are 11" could use a 8" disc . My strobes are smaller that the old revolving lights . I still need a bunch of...
