Time to cut open your oil filter and lay it out , look for metal in the filter , use a magnet . This is the first thing I do in diagnosing a engine problem . I would be leery of a trip until I nailed this down . As they say pay me now ,pay me later . good luck

That is the classic bad U-joint symptom , but you need to check the WHOLE front axle .

yes 187 , those are the standard A3 rims ,and yes I removed the CTIS from the wheels ,also changed over the A3 seals and bearings to the A2 style . MUCH easier to maintain . I would say 200 to 300 LBS. more or less , for the axle weight , tires would save a lot of weight . What about the brakes , are you putting brakes back on ? if not then , add about another 150 LBS. or so to the total . As for the hitch depends how much metal you add to put a hitch and landing...

I don't think it makes a difference , I installed mine did not concern myself with the hose placement , works great plenty of heat . BTW , My heater core leak was actually the hoses clamps , some body cranked on them so much , they crushed the heater core tubes . go figure .
