    It's alive!!!

So, I spent 5 hours in the Auto Hobby Shop at Ellsworth AFB yesterday. Huge shout out to John, shop manager and his buddy Joe, both retired Motorpool Sgts. We did get the OD situation somewhat figured out. It must have been a combination of some hydraulic fluid in the electrical connector at...

Will cheap Harbor Freight tire balancer fit center hub of 2-piece rims.

Still begs the question if the balancer will hold the weight... According to the owners manual on HF, the balancers' capacity is 15" light truck... Probably a huge difference to the 37" with runflats. Just MHO. But, if you do move forward, keep the board up to date.

    It's alive!!!

Hey everyone, I need a bit of help in all things overdrive. Fluids are new and at the correct level, filter changed within the last 200 miles. Symptoms: Occasionally, but not often, I get trans code 22, Throttle Position circuit high edit LOW. When hot, shifting 2nd, 3rd and then 4th is...

    It's alive!!!

Oh wow, that completely escaped me. Thanks for pointing that out. The max GVWR is 10,300. I am nowhere near that... That means I (and everyone else for that matter) can adjust the pressures for ride quality, until one loads up with cargo. I think I will adjust to 25 front and 30 rear to start...

    It's alive!!!

I have to edit: The front are recommended 35PSI, the REAR is what I lowered from 40 PSI.

    It's alive!!!

Quick question on tire pressure... I know that is a horse beaten to death, over and over again. Then resuscitated, just to be beaten again. BUT, each truck is unique. So, I recently got 4 used, 90% Bajas from Feltz, load range E, on 24 paired bolt rims. I inflated them to 40 PSI, and they...

Light Switch on Horn Come On ???

Sounds like a shorted wire. The horn only works if you turn on the service lights, that is intentional and meant to avoid accidentally sounding the horn, bright lights, turn signals, or any other observable signals in "blackout conditions" or when you absolutely need to stay quiet and dark in...

Side markers do not work after installing led tail lights

Are you using plastic lenses on a metal tail light body? The Army figured out that wouldn't work: But why the side markers stop, IDK. Maybe a grounding issue?

    Strange Crank No Start Condition

I've had an airlock when I replaced my fuel filter. Until I properly bled the system, I also had no-start. Best of luck.

    Strange Crank No Start Condition

Check step 3. Maybe air trapped from sitting? I am assuming it's still fueled up...

    2000 HMMWV M1123 Project

Yea, been there. In the beginning the lure of figuring stuff out and tinkering is greater than most life's' problems. But the problems don't go away... Usually they catch up. You would enjoy the labor of working on the truck much more when you're less distracted by everyday stuff. I have to...

Smoke on start up (not glow plugs)

I'm assuming it died on it's own, you didn't turn it off, correct? In the TM 9-2320-280-10 (I usually start here), table 3-1, page 3-4 there is a troubleshooting guide. Have you tried draining the fuel filter in case you had some water collect in there: 6. ENGINE STARTS BUT MISFIRES, RUNS...

    M1123 in Tucson

It is highly advisable to replace all fluids if they are still in the systems. Unless you know for sure how long it's been since last replacement, and the operating conditions since...

    LED headlight lens?

One big concern I would have is to make sure they are DOT approved, or risk a ticket from the Po-Po... I've also read that the thickness of the lens can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. That can create a problem that the lens ring or screws won't work. But I think we all can agree, the...

PURCHASED HMMWV WITH NO MODEL YEAR ON DOCUMENTS - TEXAS

Did they ever get back to you? For our 1999 M1123, our local insurance agent (Farm Bureau Financial Services) went through Progressive and insured us for $72/year. Liability only, but still. Value at $15,000, 850 credit score, no ticket/accidents in 30 years, multi vehicle discount (3...

WTH: White Wall tires on Taliban HMMWV?

Pretty dumb idea, it's like painting a scope ring/bullseye for the enemy to aim at from far away... But, consider the source.

    Fluids for HMMWV

I get mine from Wally World... It says Dex III compatible, I hope that's is correct? Anyone else out there know more?

    Fluids for HMMWV

Apparently DEX VI is backwards compatible with II and III, meaning you can use VI instead, but not the other way around. But I will keep using DEX III if I can find it. Dexron VI replaced Dexron II and III, and can be used in General Motors domestically built or import transmissions that...

    Fluids for HMMWV

Here is an oil filter cross refernce I use for all my vehicles. Personally, I love the WIX series. 51060 for this truck... https://www.oilfilter-crossreference.com/convert/AC-Delco/PF1218
