I first got a deuce in late 2006 and joined here in January 2007.
I started slowly, learning and replacing parts. cranetruck was a huge help with the mysteries of electric failures and cures.
When lights did not work, I learned about grounds. When brakes needed checking, I learned how.
So...
OK, I am a big fan of the jatonka spiin on filters. I mean a big fan.
I put on the primary fuel spin on filter last year, using the Wix 33405/NAPA3405 filters.
Checking for water has been a PITA for me. The plastic plug in the bottom seemed difficulty prone. I always removed it, got covered...
I am in the process of installing a remote brake fluid reservoir in the deuces.
I think it needs to be done by everyone with a deuce. It is low cost the way I have chosen to do it and extremely simple.
I have gone to Pegasus Racing for their Tilton 74 series medium reservoir, mount and...
OK, the master cylinder was very low on fluid. Filled it. Pumped brakes to no avail.
Looked at all six wheels. No sign of a leak at any wheel. No sign of leak around the MC. No sign of leaks around the rubber brake lines. No sign of a leak around the metallic brake lines.
I have not...
OK, I drove the deuce into a tree this afternoon. Nothing serious, I just wrecked two metal corners and uprights.
Now I need a couple of metal corners and uprights, the bow is fine.
Anyone got a couple to sell?:?:
I got started this morning for the North Texas Fair Parade fairly early. I was hauling politicians rather than riding with V V A 920.
I removed the cargo cover and cleared the bed of the vehicle. When I went to start it I kind of noticed I had forgotten to turn the power off a few days...
Has anyone tried a fan clutch on the M35? Is there one that can be adapted?
It seems to me that after 40 years of service that would have been a great item to increase power. The first that I saw on a vehicle was in the 1970's I think. I am amazed the deuce never had one.
I changed the front shocks on the second deuce today. I came in and washed up for dinner.
I seemed sweaty for some reason after the shower. I looked and it was 97 degrees.
Oh, well, at least the diesel will not jell tonight.
I had a decon bottle that was mostly complete and the mount already installed in my second deuce.
It did not seem right to me, however. After observing more closely some NOS bottles I realized mine did not have the propellant cartridges on the mount or bottle.
A trip to WalMart, co2...
The Vietnam Vets, Chapt. 920 and I will be joining up for the North Texas Fair Parade around 9am August 22. Any local MV owner is invited to participate with us. Contact me thru this site if you want to participate.
I have been running the jatonka secondary spin on fuel filters in both trucks now for about four months. The primary spin on was put on last August in the second truck and months before on the original truck.
The primary filter has made a huge improvement in the amounts of crud being removed...
I am in need of the following winch drive line parts:
1) pillow bearing mount
2) pillow bearing shield
3) rear winch drive shaft
4) slip yoke
Can you help?
I am pulling the front drive shaft. Four bolts came out easily. Four are not. The impact wrench is not loosening them.
Any ideas on how to loosen them for removal?
As some may know I have been working on three deuce air packs rebuilds.
I cannot find a real gasket amongst the rebuild kits that fits the end cap.
It is a 4 1/2 inside diameter, 1/8 inch paper gasket. The rebuild kit I have gotten, four, all have a paper gasket that is just too small.
So...
All of the cab reinforcement plates I had made in this last batch are sold.
I hope everyone who got one is happy and content.
I may have made as much as $42 on this batch. Unless there are further requests from you who have bought M66 ring mounts to make more, I believe it is all over.
My...
