    Lubing the Ari Pack

Lubing the Air Pack OK, if you get a Sears 5/16 eight point socket it is easy to remove the plug. If the plug is buggered, forget it. So, today I removed the air line, two 3/4 brass fittings going into a 7/8 brass fitting. Use both the 3/4 and 7/8 inch open end wrenches. Squirt the...

    Oiling The Air Pack

Looking in the TM's it appears the deuce air pack needs some lube in the air piston chamber. The lubrication hole is on the rear plate, a square head plug. I have struggled to get something on it to loosen it, messed up the plug and pulled the air line off to put tool oil in the cylinder...

Cleaning Up the Air Pack & Rebuild

I took an air pack apart today. Lots of crud in it. The slave cylinder tube has surface rust. I have worked on it with a brass brush. Now, I need to lightly sand it down. Any good ideas on how to sand the piston tube?

    Found One in Aubrey, Texas

I found an original M715 in Aubrey, Texas. It has troop seats, a winch and military soft top. The military numbers are painted on the hood. It is completely original and shows it. Some rust around the fender wells where the sheet metal was welded on. It is at Aubrey Trailer Sales, asking...

    Trying Not To Feel Dumb!

Some may remember my trip to Hooks, Texas, RRAD, to pick up the M35a2c. I drove it back to Telephone, Texas, in September, 2008, by just starting it up and heading home. The ultimate macho recovery. Well in November NO BRAKES! about the third time it was moved around. I began planning to...

    V V A 920 Got the Tops in Today!

V V A 920 got the deuce cab tops in today from Ft. Sill. They are the expensive padded camo, latest stuff, with the velcro fasteners for the top bows. My son got his first thing today. They will post pics of the top and install later, I believe. These are super nice.:-D

    M35a2C Brake Failure

OK, I have a friend with a M35a2c, Air Force model, whose brakes suddenly quit. Normally, I would call it a master cylinder failure most likely. But, with these having dual master cylinders, 1) is that still a probable cause and 2) where can I find a rebuild kit or a new master cylinder?

    Tell Me About Torque Bars

OK, mine need the ends replaced. I think I can get new torque bars with the ends already installed. How much trouble is it to replace these? What is the easiest way, other than going to a garage and having it done, to do the job? Will I want to kill myself or my wife midway in the work?

    Mystery Winch Plates

I have gotten a couple of emails about the rusty and bent winch top plate photo I published in the classified ads. The pic of the entire plate shows all five and the other three sort of, maybe kind of close ups of all the plates. One give the manufacturer and serial number. Another gives the...

    M66 Cab Reinforcement Plates

OK, the last time I had them made they made a blue print. It is off, by a long shot. I am taking the original back to make very close to duplicates of the M66 cab reinforcement plates. It will take just a small amount of time, however. For those who have PM'd me I will send you the PayPal...

    Thanks To antennaclimber!

He posted the information on the cargo cover plastic cord: McMaster Carr P/N 9616K15 1/4 inch EPDM rubber cord. I just got 100 ft of it for $ 46.00 plus freight. It is just right. My son bought a couple of hundred feet without telling me. It is a perfect replacement. Thanks Karl.

    A Great Day

Today was just great. I got out both deuces today for the first time for a kind of extended trip of about 75 miles round trip. The first, driven by my son is dependable as a Swiss watch. The second, on the other hand, seems to have starter issues. Kind of intermittent when warm. Not sure...

Thank You John Tennis, Thank You, Thank You

I received my spin on secondary fuel filter adapters today. I quit work early to put them on the winch deuce. Well, after a couple of glasses of wine with friends. Simple install. No leaks. Follow the directions. Took maybe 20-30 minutes at most. And, to show you how easy it was, I...
