I live in ND and we have a deuce that actually does work for its living and with good batteries and only using the manifold flame heater we have started that truck a few times down to 10 degrees with no problems. That flame heater is one the best starting aides I have ever seen, even though...
The original wood was WHITE OAK to be picky! When I restored my Deuce I stripped the troop seats down to nothing and started from there, all metal parts were sanded primed and repainted then I was pricing out the white oak to replace the in bad shape original and found the price at the time...
I am not endorsing this BUT I have had very good results using USHIP to move trucks and products all over the country, prices have been reasonable and results have been very good. You have a tight time frame but I would bet they will have a driver who will get it done.
Good luck

I do understand the manual costs Newfisher that is about what I paid for both of the volumes for my 1300 and I griped a little bit trust me but when I really had to dig in to some maintenance issues they were worth every penny then. Are you going with PTO driven winches on your MOG or are you...
You REALLY need to take a look at the TMs on this site, when your asking if its gear oil on your tires that is a little concerning to me? These are old trucks we ALL need to be a little familiar with what is going on with them, They are going to break and we ALL need to have a rudimentary...
I would have to agree with Gimp the MRAP wheels are plenty heavy duty to do anything a Deuce can handle and the HEMMT wheels are WAY overkill in almost every way for a Deuce!

Newfisher sorry I went back to the first post and got to look it over. Extremely beautiful Unimog, I would say that you did very well.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Karl
Huge congrats Newfisher you are NOW one of the few on this site! Have you got your hands on the operators manual yet? You most likely are going to need it depending on your past Unimog experience? When do we get to see pictures?

All the TMs for that truck are on this site free of charge exactly for questions like this. You are going to really want to check them out for all the other things on your truck!

Every thing I have read including quotes from the Allison folks points to the fact that they only want DEX III in that transmission! I looked at taking my truck to an authorized Allison shop in town where they would drain the converter and all the lines and refill everything with DEX III then...
not sure of what transmission is in that vehicle but absolutely NOT on the full RPM, I have been around mules that lived a good share of their lives at idle speed or just above! Check out the TMs on this site that may give you some good info!

on every truck I own all the way up to an M920 I run Rotella 15w40 NON SYNTHETIC, I once tried running synthetic in my Deuce and what was said earlier concerning drips is 100% correct, I drained the synthetic and put rotella NON SYNTHETIC in all 99% of all the drips stopped. I have never tried...
