    101A2 Adventure Trailer

I want my trailer to sit level. It doesn’t. So, I removed the tongue and sold it to a member here. I welded a 2 1/2” receiver (little over 3” wide) between the pieces of tongue and welded a piece of 3/8” plate on top of the receiver. I made a removable hitch from 2 1/2”x.250 sq tubing and...

    101A2 Adventure Trailer

I am modifying one of my 101A2’s to be an “adventure trailer”. That is a widely used and abused term, so let me define my intentions with this build. I’m going to take it hunting and I’m going to take it to the ranch and it’s going to get used to work, and haul stuff. I’m not going sleep...

Electric brakes on 101a2 and 1101

I appreciate your help. These two sites have strong military trailer followings. Obviously. I googled 101A2 electric brakes and it lead me to Expo and the thread with your post. I looked at the date and it was only a few hours old. What a coincidence. My 1101 had a bad caster bolted on the...

Electric brakes on 101a2 and 1101

Well, When you put it that way, it’s hard to resist Humphrey. I can’t make my cables reappear. They are cut in half. And that’s a problem. I have managed incredible things with two rocks tied to a string used as chocks. Im not one to skimp on $100. I could buy the brakes with the parking...

Picked up a M416. What to do first?

Cool. I saw my first 416 in the wild three weeks ago. It was like a rare sighting of an endangered specie. It was on hwy 121 in Lewisville TX loaded down with wood and a ladder being pulled by a mustard colored bronco. Wonder if he’s a member here or Expo? Had my wife take pictures since I...

Electric brakes on 101a2 and 1101

Thanks SD. You have been a big help here and on Expo. I have my shopping cart full now at eTrailer with bearings races seals and brakes. Just need to decide if I want parking brakes or not. A couple rocks tied together with paracord can do amazing things. The difference is $100 and my cables are...

    Mystery military trailer

It also looks like you might be able to stand upright in it with the tarp installed. Looks to be a good 16-18” taller.

Electric brakes on 101a2 and 1101

What is the difference in the A2 and A3 hubs and spindles? I found a thread on Expo where a guy used etrailer parts https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brakes/Dexter-Axle/23-112-113.html to convert his to electric brakes and keep the parking brakes. I called etrailer. But, I’m not confident in...

Electric brakes on 101a2 and 1101

Thanks PP. The electric/hydraulic option, while a bit pricey, would be ok if my parking brakes still worked. They don’t. They were cut at the drum. Ill call etrailer and see if anyone there knows the correct part numbers. I feel like it’s a shot in the dark, as it’s probably not a common part...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Oops. I just repeated what Toby said.

    Mystery military trailer

Thank goodness it’s in WA or I’d own another trailer I don’t need. At $800 for a rare trailer, yep. I’d buy it. I’d buy it because it’s a good deal. I’d buy it because of a dozen other reasons that don’t include the fact that I’m a trailer whore. The first step is admitting you have a problem...

Electric brakes on 101a2 and 1101

Anyone ever convert a 101a2 to electric brakes? I wired a 7 way plug in anticipation of adding electric brakes to it since my surge system was inop, and my truck has a good trailer package with adjustable electric brake output. I have electric brakes for my 1101, have not installed them yet...

What did you do to your trailer today.

The bolt pattern is the same as most 7k lb axle trailer wheels. 8 on 6 1/2 is the standard bolt pattern. Now, HWMMV wheels are odball size at 16.5” (same bolt pattern). The 37” tires can be found, so, aftermarket wheels can be found too, but they are not as common as 16” and 17” and so on.

What did you do to your trailer today.

On all 4 corners of an HMMWV. :) A better place would be to try the parts wanted forum. Craigslist (where I got mine in OKC) cities where they auction lots of tires off sometimes have guys who buy a bunch.

What did you do to your trailer today.

Had some difficulty uploading pictures from the ranch, so here are some new pics. I have posted pictures of the tongue build before, somewhere else, but, in short, I removed the original 65lb surge and dropleg apparatus and sold it to a member here, and welded a 3/8” plate on top with a larger 2...

What did you do to your trailer today.

101A2 - one of the ones that left RRAD with no wheels looking pretty sad. I fixed broken/cut wires to passenger tail light, replaced all bulbs with 12/24v LEDs. nice bright German made bulbs. Wired in a 7 way plug in prep for future shenanigans with electricity. Welded on new safety chains...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Probably best. These days, plenty of attorneys would take that case pro-bono. It’s illegal to electrocute your “stuff” in defense of theft. Sad day we live in when a guy who needs an ass whooping won’t even take one without complaining.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I’ll be sure to watch out for the welder trolls. I was going to post two recent welding projects. Maybe now I’ll just post far away shots! On another note, I had to move because the crime had gotten so bad in Dallas from Katrina refugees. The last night I was there, they tried to break in...
