I just got mine. I run a machine and welding shop where we rebuild pumps, so I know a little about them. This pump is far superior to my old pump, which is more of a mixer than a pump. I have a pressure gauge on my filter housing and will report back pressures engine off/running idle/at speed.
It was already double flared, which is why I went to the (unnecessary) trouble. I put it together today and it worked, so on to the next issue now. (Alternator) Can't make up my mind if I want original or modern.
Pulled the alt, looking into a 21SI. While it was out, I attacked the leak at the primary filter. I used to think everything on a deuce was pretty open and easy to work on 'til I tackled these two projects. Made a custom wrench socket to get the compression fitting off the 90 at the filter...
After doing some research online, it appears double flare may be overkill for low pressure copper. Usually double flare is used for high pressure steel brake lines, and copper is usually low pressure single flare. I'm working on the line across the front crossmember. It cracked at the flare at...
Double flaring 1/2" copper tubing is giving me fits. Gave a generous taper to the OD. The tubing just pushes out the opposite side of the clamp on the initial push with the die. I tried wrapping it the sand paper, and used 3 different flaring/clamping tools, one a Ridgid. I suspect maybe the...
The batteries the PO put in it were kinda small and cheap. Put a couple Group 31s in it, topped them off with the CUCV and that seems to have taken care of that issue. I was afraid it was the starter there for a bit.
My rehashed fuel pump makes enough flow to make the primary fuel filter...
So... back to working on getting this one on the road and paid for. Pretty excited, will finally have a deuce I can actually drive and take to the desert to do some offroading and dragging junk around. :-)
Fixed the horn last night, just the connector pulled loose at the steering wheel...
They are or were quite popular down here. I have two deuces that were water trucks, one with the 'glass conversion. The guy wants $3500 for this one. Too much for me...
Q: are the air pots mounted on the brakes like that stock/original? Didn't look quite right to me.
I'd love to see the data plates on that oldie...has it been updated to multifuel=A2 config? If it's gas, it probably won't move unless in low range, those tires are huge. You're going to have to lift it too. Looks like it could use some love and then think about mods...
This guy? More of an overflow valve, no? Like the one up on the filters. Debris in these will hold them off the seat and she won't get the proper fuel pressure.
