Progress 7/29/2017
Progress contiunued this weekend on the truck since Saturday was a rain out for outside activity. Per my kids, as long as it was drive-able for our weekly ice cream trip into town Sunday night daddy could work on the truck.
I got the frame extensions, winch plate/bumper...
Pictures from around the Cab showing the install.
I do have a MX777 Surge suppressor mounted horizontally behind the Amplifier that is fed from the battery and then an individual power cable to the VIC-1 and then to the Radios. I also have all the cables to hook up the KY-57's to the...
Has anyone seen their Gear Reduction Hubs Marked like this? Not sure if it was for easy identification on where the cover was or if it meant something else. All four are marked like this.
I noticed it about a month ago when I had to remove and fix my leaking front right tire and forgot to...
The ladder is a MX3543/G. They can get pretty salty price wise but I snagged one pretty cheap. Works darn near perfect for the truck. as you can see the pole has its own storage position when not in use and it had cables that tie off to the safety chain loops to secure it during use. So in a...
Radio Install Update
Well, After installing the wrong power cable last weekend, I pulled everything back out and installed the right one this weekend and then put everything back. Below are a few pictures of the install. I am short two 2'-0" CX-4723 cables to make the VIC-1 fully functional...
Living in Maryland, and owning several vehicles both Military and Civilian origin over the years, I have always been confused why Maryland would not tag the HMMWV. Below is a description on the requirements to acquire Maryland Historic Tags:
"To be registered as a historic vehicle (class L)...
Monday I was off work and I was able to work on the truck a little. I mounted the MX777 surge suppressor to protect my radios and my intercom system. After that I was able to finally install the X-Door window rollers as well replace some of the rivets that supported the window track. What a...
Well, took a little bit but I did locate one. Each person I was referred to forwarded me to another person. The last person had 1 NOS bracket left.
i am making a detailed CAD file of all three pieces. My plan is to give the file to my friend who works in a fab shop to see what the cost...
Hello everyone. I am now in possession of ,Carnacs MB. Picking up from where he left off here is what I have done.
I could not not get a good spark, so I replaced the points and condenser. We have great spark now.
Next we verified that the rotor button lines up with timing mark and spark...
Okay... my lead might have washed up. They "can't find" the one they had listed for sale, but are still looking at this time.
So, any other leads would be greatly appreciated! I did try to search for "Private jarhead" on here, but that user name doesn't come up.
As for part number(s), here...
I just got a break in work to check everyone's posts. I really appreciate the help!
Yesterday I was able to find a part number off a diagram and that led me right to 123mack's suggestion. I should have one on the way after my order processes along with some other things I decided to buy...
I'm trying to source what I call an "enclosure bracket" that mounts around the RT-524 Radio and allows you to mount the KY-57 Encryption boxes on top. I'm not sure if they were installed in any particular vehicle but I have seen this setup installed in two M151's so far from what I can find on...
Well, progress has been slow this spring with work, but I found a little time to post some updated pictures. First big change is that the truck is now a 4-Door and my girls love that we get to all drive together and that is just about every weekend to either get lunch or ice cream.
The other...
Looks like I will be there Thursday. I am brining my car so if there is an interest in small stuff I can bring it with me. Such as:
- M35 Arctic grill cover, good blanket, and side panels with install parts
- M35 electric Wipers with windshield washer setup
- HMMWV 2-man cargo divider bulkhead...
As of last year there were two lots used to store the trucks and both were off base. I will try and look in paperwork to see if I still have the addresses of both sites.
If I was first. Awesome! If not, I can't complain. Without this site and the other one I would be limited to the auction sites to find parts and miss out on the knowledge passed on for free to.
