    Direct drive the motor of the starter is inline with the pinion gear. With the gear reduction starter the motor is offset. Your first picture on this post looks like a 28MT which is a gear reduction starter.

    It's direct drive vs gear reduction starters. The 28MT is the gear reduction starter. You'll need the bracket for that one.

    My 1986 CUCV had the triangle spacers. The 2001 6.5 engine I am installing in it didn't have the spacer. I will be using the 1986 mounts and spacer though I can't see any visual difference between the two.

    I have the same tool. It definitely takes some talent to use effectively. You must be able to rule out metric sizes. Metric isn't that common in valves and such but I suggest a good caliper to take measurements.

    Does anybody have a Safety Data Sheet for this lube? That could also help identify alternatives. Dow Corning Molykote 111 is my go to rubber lube for long term applications. There are better products but this one hits a nice price point at about $40 for a grease gun tube.
