    Hutchinson Run Flat Lubricant

So this is either a dry film lube or one that is not water based as that would evaporate in short time.

    Hutchinson Run Flat Lubricant

What is the consistency? I know of many tire lubes that range in consistency from watery to gelatinous, all water based. What is it that you want the lube to do?

    CUCV Motor Mount Recommendations

Here are my stock shells with 3.1152 inserts. None of the bolts are tight. This is on a bare block while I do some clearencing.

Proper Way to Clean 6.2 Engine (CUCV M1009)???

Caustic degreasers work great but I have noticed that they remove frame paint that has had oil/grease sitting on it for a long time. Zep Big Orange is a powerful degreaser that I have found to be safe for paint. Simple Green etches paint. A solvent gun can be useful.

    CUCV Motor Mount Recommendations

When you assemble the clamshells do you have to squish them down over the rubber? I think the 3.1152 number is slightly thicker. That puts a bit more pre-load on the mount.

low coolant light on and off

It was a few years back, I don't remember exactly what the problem was. The aftermarket brass radiator pooled water at the sensor so it wouldn't come on if water was low if I remember correctly. Or maybe it was the opposite. Oh well, that radiator rotted out after 2 years of California weather...

low coolant light on and off

Is the radiator aftermarket? They don't work well with the low coolant sensors.

    2003 M1078A1 3126B 330 horsepower flash

"24v on 12v, 36v on a 24v motor etc.. will NOT increase the torque/power.. only the speed." This statement is incorrect. It confuses induction motors with series wound DC motors (a starter).

    MEP804a Under Voltage Shut Off?

If it is a water separating filter they can clog with water so they may not appear dirty. You can't see water in a tank from the top. You have to take a sample and view it from the side or bottom. They also make water indicating paste you can put on the end of a stick and send that to the...

New Electric HUMMER (GMC) - costs over $100 to charge?????

Yes, the commercial ones are. https://www.evchargesolutions.com/ABB-Terra-DC-Wallbox-Charging-Station-480V-p/6agc081364.htm Keep in mind that the power is all being fed into a rectifier so there isn't that much physically different between 1 and 3 phase units.

New Electric HUMMER (GMC) - costs over $100 to charge?????

The math is easy to get ballpark numbers. The Hummer battery is 213 KWh. A watt hour and hour are essentially the same in this case. If you want to charge on a household 120v outlet you're limited to 15amps. That's 1.8kW. it would take almost 6 days to charge off a standard household outlet. If...

    1985 M1028 Diesel gauge

The needle shouldn't be a problem. A dab of glue should solve that. If the needle is gone, you can likely buy ABS or polystyrene rod of similar diameter to glue on.

    CUCV Motor Mount Recommendations

The parts house aftermarket ones are junk. OEM or aftermarket polyurethane seem to be preferred. I got polyurethane for mine, they reuse the old housings. I can't give a report yet, I haven't installed the engine. The 4wd trucks use a different, heavy duty shell so make sure you get the right ones.

    MEP804a Under Voltage Shut Off?

In my commercial generator experience (excluding Cat C9 powered sets), the voltage regulator is the most common part to fail, second to the injection pump. The voltage regulator is easy, they either work or they don't. You can tell it's the VR because a properly functioning generator head will...

    MEP804a Under Voltage Shut Off?

Many voltage regulators derate as RPM drops. The lower voltage decreases the power output and helps the engine recover speed after a large load change. If the engine is sputtering and not maintaining speed the loss of voltage is likely just a symptom of an engine side problem.

    HMMWV 6.5 Lift Pump Life

Gore makes waterproof and breathable vents for drive line components. You can't buy them direct from Gore but they are used by the major automotive manufacturers. I haven't been able to find a part number yet, though...

    MEP804a Under Voltage Shut Off?

Is it shutting off and then faulting under voltage or faulting under voltage and then shutting off? It seems like under voltage shouldn't cause a shutoff trip.

    HMMWV 6.5 Lift Pump Life

This is one of those things where hours are most important. It is the rubber seals that fail in the DB2 pumps. There isn't much deterioration that happens when the engine is cold. It is closely related to the amount of time the engine spends running.

    Wire loom tape?

It's good stuff and has lots of uses. Silicone tapes are actually very poor against abrasion resistance but they resist oil and sunlight very well. There are other, tougher self fusing tapes such as Scotch 23 which are EPDM based but turn to goo with the slightest exposure to oil. If I were...

    Wire loom tape?

It works for fixing pinhole leaks in pipes if you can fit a hose clamp over it.
