    Not starting, but started yesterday.

I think it's time for a better buttonholderclipthing. I could probably come up with some thing, anyone have a bad HH, button, and clip? I don't want to pull apart either of my "running" trucks.

    Not starting, but started yesterday.

I know of a guy who stuck his on with jb weld, bad idea in my opinion, I think the button is there to swivel. I think they fall off because of the plunger sticking from sticky fuel or debris but I dunno...

    jumping out of fifth gear

Subscribing, I need to work on my transes, too. You can "peen" around the outside edge or face of the bore too, just be careful not to chip off chunks.

    Not starting, but started yesterday.

With the button off, it strokes about 1/8" to 3/16", and it needs to be more like 5/16"-3/8". It's hard to tell with the engine flopping around from cranking. It would work better to have someone turn the engine over by hand ( SAFELY PER THE TM) and take a measurement.

I got to thinking about it more...anyone know when or with which engines the cross members changed? If this one is like my A1, was this one maybe an A1 of some sort? Didn't they go flat with the A2s?

I imagine the engine got swapped and they didn't have the matching engine mount and crossmember.

Pretty sure it would have been like my '62 A1. Vertical xmember instead of the later flat. Haven't compared yet.

Forgot...when we were leaving the barn, I noticed a big long battery in the corner where the truck was. It had two terminals on one end, and six cells I think. I'm guessing it's 12v, truck needs lots of amps to start of course. Doesn't like to start on one battery. The alternator works, the...

    Paramount water truck

Threw out the bathroom carpet, rubber floor mats, onions, beer cans, whittled forked sticks with duct tape handles of unknown purpose, fishing stick, and other miscellaneous flotsam and jetsam. Shop vac for all the allergens that were killing me, dust, hay, cat hair, etc. Cab is rough, rusty...

    Paramount water truck

I'm guessing a busted shaft flopping around in there.

It has some kind of elec pump on the firewall where the air cleaner would be. The brakes...air comes to the brake pedal which is an air switch and parking brake pushpull knob on the dash like a semi. They both feed into a line going to two air pots that actuate two master cylinders. The...

Ugh, sideways pictures. I'll fix it later.

    Paramount water truck

It started pretty quickly the first time but it's taking longer now. Doesn't hardly smoke at all. I think she's starving for fuel.

    Paramount water truck

Got it home. Had an air leak, fixed that, wouldn't move. Air parking brake was stuck on, killed the supply hose to it with vice grips once I figured it out. Topped off the fluids and went. Best it will do is about 45 at 2k RPM, and it takes a long time to get there. Filters hopefully. Probably...

    Paramount water truck

"Interesting" is a nice way to put it. The front edge of the timing cover has been hitting the steering box intermittently. Front "crossmember" looks to be some cheesy light weight angle iron. It was in daily operation until 3 years ago, and the foreman there isn't the shoddy type, so it's...

    Paramount water truck

Engine is not installed properly, couldn't get at the shutoff rod with what I had. Took other precautions and crossed fingers, vroom, drove it out of the barn back there outside the gate to where I can tinker on it more after work today when it's not so hot. Didn't make any air pressure on the...

If it is the 3052, can I add the taller OD gear to it? Or the 5th from my 3053? Or are they completely different? Also, I thought I read somewhere the 3052 had closer ratios and was better for lower speed control. thanks!
