Thin air of high altitudes is a Low Density condition, not high. The Blackhawk pilot who sent me the video was recently station near where this occurred. He thinks the pilot will be charged, but just the pilot.
Some of you guys need to think a little more realistically regarding these light armor vehicles. .300WM, .338 Lapua, and of course any .50BMG will punch holes in these and keep going. A few Molotov Cocktails will take them out quite easily as well. And those are the readily available weapon...
And sometimes the size of such collections are far more rumor than fact. A few pieces can quickly become a large gaggle in very little time. As do the vehicles themselves. My teeny Ferret became a Sherman after just one parade. One town over, a halftrack and scout car became an entire armada...a...
If you want to go the WWII route for tracked armor, the T16 Universal Carrier is the only real choice for price, size and performance. Certainly the "Scorpion" of its day. But like Scorpions, these are hard to find for sale.
There are many states where tracked vehicles can be street legal. As for owning a real tank, as stated, the CVR(T)s are the only ones remotely practical for all the reasons previously mentioned. Certainly the easiest tracked armor to service. I know people who have gone the BATFE Form 1 route...
There is a fitting that can be replaced with a Schrader valve. Once done, 90psi+ should turn it over just fine. We have started them directly off the shop's compressor, too. But the electric starter should work as well.
Start-up instructions for a Ferret are less complex than a 432, Stalwart or Saladin, and we have had all moved via RORO using such. These people move all kinds of equipment everyday. They know what they are doing. But I would never move anything without a CONEX unless I had to. A Ferret in a...
You guys have launched into an apples and oranges debate. The F-22 and F-35 are awesome aircraft, but first and foremost, there will never be ENOUGH of them. Second, where is the CAS/A-10 replacement? It does not exist. We are losing that capability, just as we have lost an effective CSAR...
Yes, the FV432 was originally and officially called the "Trojan". But who wants armor named for a condom, hence 432 became standard. I was asked many times why the "432" is the only Brit armor that uses a number...and that's the reason.
There are a ton of nice ones being dumped by the MoD right now. Get em while you can. Next year they'll all be gone and prices will start going up from there...
