    M1009 Rear Window Advice Please

CUCVRUS, I rebuilt the tail gate when I first got it. All new side tracks, rubber, crank, and lift gears. Thought the glass would be fine till I saw a few M1009s with tint and changed my mind. Thanks for the helpful advise.

    M1009 Rear Window Advice Please

You can have my old window glass from my M-1009 when I replace it with new tinted. I wanted to tint my windows but they are scratched up to much. The auto glass shop can still get the glass new and tinted for less than $100 for the rear and $70 for each side (their cost). With that said why...

CUCV M1009 Passenger-Side Alternator Gremlin (yeah yeah, I know)

You should disconnect and fully trickle charge both batteries. I still think you have a bad battery that is not taking a charge from your alternator.

CUCV M1009 Passenger-Side Alternator Gremlin (yeah yeah, I know)

Have you load tested the batteries? Some times they can read normal voltage but still have a bad cell

    Glow Plug Conversion Questions

I apparently did not know the correct definition of "snow ball effect" and I stand corrected for using that term loosely. What I should have said is that the "poor mans effect" will happen when you replace one or two plugs VRS all eight. The original plugs will still have more resistance than...

    Glow Plug Conversion Questions

If one or more plugs fail, its most likely one of four things; The plugs are old and are due for replacement, They are of inferior quality, the original glow plug system has been altered or there is a mechanical issue when trying to start the truck (hard starting) weak batteries, fuel leaks and...

    Glow Plug Conversion Questions

If it isn't broke why change it. It has been doing its job for the last 25 years, might just as well leave as is.

Did you conclude if the truck starts now?

Just did the Doghead conversion… but

Has anyone suggested to check the integrity of your batteries (load test) . If you have a dead cell in one of the batteries the starting symptoms are virtually the same as you described. Some times it could be the simple things that you over look that causes a lot of confusing discussions.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I just sprayed some green paint on the antenna mast and slipped it over the wet paint. Also to detail the insulation ends I took it to the grinding wheel and ground the shape. It worked better than using a knife.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I hear the whips slap against the topper when going over rough terrain. It's somewhat unnerving to hear them hit, but I know where the sound is coming from so I don't worry about it. I had the same problem; the fix I did was to take short pieces of black refrigerant line insulation (5/8" I...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Depends if you want to keep it original to the age of your M1009. The 84's had them on the back end and tied down the antenna to the front and then the government decided it better to mount them behind the doors and tie the antennas to the back. This helped keep the antennas from grabbing trees...

color of cucv dash and doors

I think most all your advice is "spot on" and very useful. Speaking for my-self and probably many others, your experience and opinions are well appreciated. You should disregard those negative feedbacks and "keep posting". Don't stop just because someone is having a bad hair day.

Grave yard of the Rusty and dead CUCV's

Looks like you need to build another barn just to store the spare parts. That's all that's stopping me from adding to my collection.

    Can't lower tailgate

Ditto: Mine was the same way when I got it. Plan on spending some time adjusting the latch rods or replacing parts. Caution with the adjustment bolt on the latch, it is a left hand thread. I learned that the hard way when I snapped it off.

    CUCV Spare Parts

Fuel injection lines are no longer made for the 6.2. The old ones are known to get brittle and start leaking with age or milage. I had three lines weeping at the injector pump and decided to replace all the rest while I had it apart. It took me 4 months to find all eight NOS lines.
