An update: The oil still shows no sign of AF. The lights are working again. All appears well.
With this thread and PATRACY's thread and his solution anyone who follows has a lot more information than we had to work with.
I got the AVM lockouts from JT several years ago. No problems and they do not look out of place on the trucks.
Others sell them cheaper today. But, they do not contribute much more than a parts source. JT posts and makes a lot of stuff for us. So, when JT has it I buy from him. When ODiron...
Turn on the lights. Turn signal control on steering wheel lights up. The under hood blinker control can be hear blinking.
No turn signals front or back, left or right.
Any ideas?
When the white powder on the filter cleans up, you are making progress. I put it in once or twice a year.
Be sure and change the filters fairly frequently. Some of the bio mass comes out in chunks.
Deuces that have sat, and which of them has not, tend to get organic growth in the tanks. A bio killer will clear it up, but you get a lot of crap in the filters first.
Check out how much junk you have in the tank. A clue is whether or not the fuel filter under the cap is coated with a white...
OK, what I hope is a final report on this.
First I did not wait till Wednesday to change the oil. I got out of court a winner today, took the afternoon off to bask in my temporary glory, and changed out the oil and filters.
Second, the oil did not show any accumulation of AF but was milk...
Thought about that. But, then you have diesel in the oil passages just as you do AF. Same result, if there is enough of either.
When I said trace I meant that there was discoloration of the oil. In the last change there was no accumulation of AF.
I am letting it sit till Wednesday to allow...
I run the engine because you have to remove the AF residue. I have changed it twice. I will probably change the oil again Wednesday. Changing the oil and filters runs about $80.
I can think of no other way than to disassemble the entire engine for cleaning.
But, if you have another way...
I am starting to feel better about my repair. No steam from the slobber tube, running strong an no drip from the radiator cap. I think it was a cracked head. I will post later on this.
I have a much higher level of confidence tonight. The engine is idling. No dripping from the radiator cap. No steam from the slobber tube. It has been idling about 15 minutes.
The oil shows signs of AF, but that is to be expected I think. The next oil change will tell the story. I will...
I saved my old head gasket to make a pattern in steel that will seal off the water jacket. I will make a casting plug with an air inlet to pressure the head up for crack testing. It should not be too expensive and perhaps we can loan it out to those suspecting a cracked head.
If you look at...
