With the end of ice and snow season, I HOPE, around here I got the deuces out for some exercise and to check the fluids. It is so much easier with the remote brake fluid reservoir. Much easier. After a year of use, the air seems to be out of the system and the level is steady in the reservoir...
The Tefba does not have a provision for the SCA. The SCA is important to any diesel operation. You can buy it in bulk or in the filter. I find it much easier to change both the filter and add the SCA at one time.
I have absolutely no idea. I put it into five gallon buckets from Home Depot and put the sealing lid on it. Then it sits in the bushes for months till I need some. I then take the lid off and dip out what I need. When it gets low you can see all the slime on the bottom of the bucket. Put in...
If you have access to some chemical supplier, they all have a rust re-converter sometimes called TREX that works wonders on rusty metal. It basically makes rusty metal into primer for painting.
I put the ODIron coolant filter on both trucks. It seems to work fine. I change it yearly because it has the diesel coolant additives in the filters I buy.
One thing to remember. Anti-freeze does not go bad. I just gets dirty. I drain my anti-freeze into five gallon buckets and set them...
The past two weeks have been miserable in Texas. We get sleet, which melts a bit and then it freezes making the roads more than hazardous. Deadly, in fact. Followed by five inches of snow which hid the ice until you hit it with your tires. Zowieeee!
Then the temp got down to 9 degrees one...
I got the TNJ Murray kit some two years ago. It was an easy install for the most part. I got inventive in placing the on/off switch over on the right side of the dash. It works very well. It did have a bulb failure almost immediately. I got a couple of bulbs from O'Reilly's Auto and put in...
I tried out the deflector and the spring from the commode auger today. Seems to work exactly right! Anyone else who tries this will be satisfied I am confident.:-P
I will check with the geezers at Vietnam Veterans of America #920 to find out where they think we should meet and when. Probably in a couple of weeks at least.
We seem to have a number of members in the DFW area now.
Would any be interested in a meet up say in Dallas/Ft. Worth/Arlington for breakfast/lunch/dinner some time in the next few weeks?
Perhaps anyone wanting to join in the Medal of Honor Parade in Gainesville on April 9 might be interested...
I made it to Lowe's finally. Roads cleared enough to travel this afternoon.
I looked in the plumbing, found the 3/8" x 25 auger but noticed a 3/8 x3" toilet auger had the same cable. Item # 24643 for a couple of bucks cheaper and much less waste.
I used an air cut off tool to cut to...
It appears to be the same type spring as the hand drain auger at Lowe's. 3/8 inch x 25 feet.
Cheap enough solution to the problem it appears. Trim to length and it appears good to go.
