Back in the day it was common for EVERY vehicle the military owned would have a data plate. I've seen a Cadillac ambulance, a Gen 1 Ford Bronco, and an International Harvester Scout with data plates. Are they more collectable? Maybe. But they were just used as base vehicles, "grocery...
Oh, no. Looks like all the hopes we had about you getting a M756 are going up in smoke. You got what USED to be a M756. Now it's been bubbafied by a fire dept. into a water hauler, and all the pipeline deuce stuff is gone. It will be a PITA to find it all and make it right.
Good luck....
I know this is resurrecting an ancient SS thread, but a question: are the VIC-1 cables/control boxes interchangeable with the M981 VIC-4 amplifier box? I have a M981 amp box and the connections look the same as VIC-1 components...
I once had to use a weedeater in a neighbor's yard and there was a section overgrown with kudzu. I cut it all down with the w.e. but 2 months later it was back and worse. I don't know what kills that stuff, but you can scratch off weedeaters. Maybe Agent Orange, not sure.
Good luck...
Just wanted to say "thanks!" to patracy, you're doing a great job with the maintenance and upkeep of the site. Whenever something goes wrong, you're right on the job, and site improvements are coming along regularly. Just wanted to say that we all appreciate everything you're doing, you work...
I'm not a fan of the holes - they look kinda weird if you ask me. But, it is your track, you can change it as you wish.
Just be advised, when I make my millions, and I buy your track, I'll put it back the way it was. ;)
Here's more info on the command tent I mentioned.

I would NOT recommend a GP small or medium in vinyl. The smalls are easy to put up but aren't too big, the mediums are big but are a PITA to set up. Don't ask me about the GP Larges, I had a bad experience.
I had a command tent, it was 11x11 feet, heavy vinyl with separate cold weather liner, vestibule and floor. Easy to put together, but really needs 2-3 people to make it easy to do. Would be great in cold weather, especially with a Yukon stove.
Billett, do you plan on replicating the bumper-mounted chock blocks that were on the original incarnation? I think those were pretty useful for winching ops.
You're such a tease. Glad they are firing, but they are firing blanks. Very, uh, non-exciting.
Sorry to rain on the parade. Cannons should be restored to do this with LIVE ammo!
I see the winding mech is keyed, can you get an adjustable wrench on there and turn it off in either direction? The answer lies in that piece, otherwise I fear you'll have to use a press or jack and pry apart the frame sides.
Could this have been a part that had the frame folded around it at...
Great work! I'm not so sure about the new bumper and brushguard assy, but it's your truck. How bad in condition was the original brushguard? I see you put it was "too far gone" but in the first pic it looks pretty solid.
I've loved this truck since I saw it's first incarnation in 1989 in...
Not sure yet, but it looks like the item you bought and paid for, Uncle Sam changes it's mind and now wants to keep. I've heard horror stories about this in the past, sometimes folks don't get their money back.
I'm sure GL will give you more information in the near future about your...
I doubt the HMMWV replacement will need armor full-time. Armor is expensive, taxing on the vehicle's frame and suspension, and makes using the vehicle for less tactical uses (like just driving around base) a PITA since armor sometimes obstructs the view for the driver. I'm sure the capacity to...
Mine were all rotted off, and I couldn't find a local source for them, so I used small 4x40 bolts with washers to hold the new welting on. I know, it's a bubba fix, but when you can't find the parts, you improvise.
Just a quick question - if someone had a M127 trailer that was in excellent condition, nice decking, tires were 80% or better, everything worked and the paint was pretty fresh, what's the retail value on something like that? Just curious...
