    Old types still at auctions?

Training on the older versions I can understand, at least for the 101 class in driving. Stupid, but understandable. I was actually surprised to see late 1960s trucks in the auctions, this is even weirder. That truck almost should be auctioned through Sotheby as antique, not through GL as...

    Old types still at auctions?

Just curious. I looked at some GL auctions, and noticed they still occasionally sell-off over 40 year old trucks. Was there never a phase-out of ALL these trucks, to be replaced by more current ones? Like, we will replace the 5x and 8xx series by the 9xx series over the next 5 years, so in the...

    Split brake system

Sounds like an interesting idea (from October 8, 2009, a year ago) but did not see any reply on it. Since the thread is jumpstarted again, tought I bump this as well. Any thoughts on this or sombody did this?

5 Ton transmission 3rd gear problem

Come on guys and galls, please don't make me more confused then I already am, just thought I had it figured out. :lost: I actually found a link explaining some of the modern and old designations for transmission oils (although the post itself may be a bit outdated) Another link states...

Actually, Kansas did not had that much trees an 150 odd years ago. Mind you, herds of a million or two heads of bisons helped keeping the vegtation down. Under the Homestead Act of 1862, in Kansas you actually could get two claims if you wanted, one normal and one tree lot, under condition you...

Converting a multifuel engine to straight diesel? Saw an add for trucks from the Kansas Forest Service (did not know they had forests there). They are talking about "Multifuel, converted to diesel only". How would you do that and what would be the + and - of such a conversion?

    dump truck with fifth wheel?

I once saw a system of how they fitted a swappable fifth wheel assembly on a truck. With some kind of click it in system, ready in a few minutes. Can not find the video back   aua Anyway, my concept for how this could work, after inspecting the truck more carefully, is...

5 ton dump truck adventure ready to start

I want to be able to tow something, and more important, I will be bringing the truck to the Czech Republic. So any official stuff has to be done in the beginning. The Groningen DoT people seem to be responsive (touch wood, fingers crossed etc) so I will try it.

    tatra 813 new owner

You probably saw this this one and this one Unfortunately, in the first one, you don't see much of the Tatra 813, but its there completely at the end, effortlessly pulling a bloody tank :jumpin:!

5 ton dump truck adventure ready to start

Duncan, With your Tatra 813, what coupling device do you have? A nato pintle or a standard civil EU "Catching Mouth"? If nato, what did the RDW (Dutch DoT) allow you to tow with it?

How long did this take you Duncan? I am taking the other way around; first get it papered and registered, then start restore.

5 ton dump truck adventure ready to start

The standard modern nato pintle is a bit different from the old US version, which I have as seen on the picture. The modern Nato ones do have a bit these "catching mouth" typical for modern European trailer couplings. I just bought one completely new one for 150 EUR, including a second new one...

Another way to Bob a Deuce!

Just curious, how do you get registration and plates for a bobbed deuce? In the Netherlands (and most other EU countries), changing a vehicle like that means changing its specifications, which means its basically a new vehicle, which means you have to get new registration for it, which means...

    Oldies selling oldies

Meaning it can carry 12 ton (12,000 kg) or total is 12 ton? I need to tow a semi-trailer loaded with a small digging machine (shovel) weighing around 12 tons. Using a tractor configuration (M54), would the M270 be a good match for that or too light? What is the best configuration for this? In...

    Wrong oil pressure gauge?

On my M51 A2 dump truck, the gages for the oil and the air pressure have identical scales. According the manual, the oil gage should show a lower pressure range than the air pressure?? With most gages, if the needle is in the middle it's ok, and mine goes there. Anybody any idea what that gage...
