I believe my first post on SS was a starter not turning over. Someone suggested hitting it with a hammer. Sounded crazy. I hit it with a hammer. Started. Stopped a couple of more times. I hit it with a hammer a couple of more times. Two years later it is still starting. Learned its...
My theory on putting the magnets on the side of the final fuel filter housing was to let the filters do their work and to collect what they missed.
I will run the truck another hundred or so miles and take a look at the housing. As the fuel circulates from the tank to the injectors and back...
I looked at Magnet Force and the other similar filter bases. There are also some that fit around the filter can.
I picked the fit around the filter can version to emulate with my store bought magnets. I have not pulled them to see the results yet.
Logically, the magnets should be put into...
I would go with mounting the military rear lights off a deuce onto the trailers either magnetically or mechanically using a long extension line.
Used of eBay the lights are cheap, wire is cheap and the hassle would be a lot less.
On the other hand, I bet Bjorn (cranetruck) has either done the...
I have the jatonka adapters. No leaks, no problems and an easy install.
But, they have the correct gaskets included. I looked at some that came with the original replacement filters and they were slightly out of spec.
If it ever gets cold enough here to need that to assist the starting, it will be too cold for me to care.
My truck is used here in the parade season, May through November. It has no other use than to amuse me, occupy my off hours and to hone my mechanical skills. My son uses one or the other...
You may as well go ahead and buy it. You will spend many happy hours working on it anyway. You will also spend some hours cussing it.
Life is an adventure. Take a chance now and again.
I actually got a hard top last year from Memphis! They have some. I was in Memphis last year and saw about four on their yard there.
Mine came from the other location, however.
I kind of settled on a price of $150 including shipping. It was too much of a hassle and always the shipping brought the price into the $145 to $155 range for the most part. So, I put a little in on one and kept a little out on the other and save a bunch of time.
No one has complained about...
I made a jumper wire at least 10 feet long to test the circuits. I do not recall who suggested it but it was super advice. You just start at the battery and the end of the circuit and keep testing back to the problem. Works great.
And, check the grounds thoroughly. I have gone as far as...
Sorry, Bjorn. I figured you would know the answer by osmosis at least.
But, I cannot think of anyone more able to guide him quicker and more certainly than you.:-D
A lot of the crap in the tank comes from years of having diesel fuel growing algae. Get an algae killer, from the auto supply house, and put in some. It helps get rid of the algae and the water problems as well.
OK, having gotten the cable out, I find the drive is not turning. Who sells tach drives for the multi-fuel engine?
Also, the tach cable I bought, NOS, is about ten inches or so longer than the original. What have I bought?
Both of mine sit in the driveway, covered in ice even tonight. Texas is no place to practice driving a deuce in icy weather. Dallas was the worst possible choice for it.
I drove the SX4 Suzuki in all wheel drive for the entire day looking for the icy patches.
