Cleaning out a sludgy fuel tank?? How?

I am going to speak to some radiator repair folks. I think they deal with sludge problems and such daily. I understand there is coating applied to tanks which have been cleaned to prevent rust. Rust is the enemy! I hate rust! OK, now I feel better. I still think rust is the major problem...

    Deuce lockout hubs

If you have a ratchet wrench, a socket and a couple of gaskets, the front two takes about 5 minutes per side. The middle axle change requires a dual spline axle and a gasket. It takes about ten minutes, five of which are spent trying to figure out if that is all there is to it. Ned in the...

Have you ever had your tank dipped?

As I tell my clients from time to time, there is always a first time. The penalties are the same.

Have you ever had your tank dipped?

Using WVO is the same as red diesel in Texas. If you are jailed here, call me and we can discuss the fee. It ain't cheap.

Have you ever had your tank dipped?

I represented some nice people who used farm diesel before it was red to drive around in their Mercedes coupe. Only cost about $15000 to get it straightened out. IN 1973! I would pass on using untaxed fuel today, just a friendly observation.

    Deuce lockout hubs

I think Ouverson Engineering has all three items. I wanted the jatonka hubs because of my conversations with John Tennis and his innovative products for the deuce. We do not buy, he does not have the incentive to come with more, so to speak. You can figure a cost of perhaps $1,000 to do the...

    Deuce lockout hubs

I put the jatonka/AVM lockouts on the front and on the driver side front rear axle. I used a Off Road Fab Works dual spline axle. It is much easier to steer and the mileage improved. I will do the same to my second deuce next month.

    How often should I drive

From December thru May mine get driven infrequently. Then 'Parade Season' opens and they get a lot of exercise at least once a month. Once a week the engines are cranked up, run at idle for a half hour and sometimes driven four or five miles and perhaps more afterward for service work. The...

    Blinker trouble

Bjonr says the new ones are subject to being overloaded by the electrical system. He makes, from time to time, a cure. I hope he has not forgotten my second deuce cure?:?:

    Fuel polishing

I think the DAHL unit may be really great. But, my problem is not from the tank to the primary filter. It is all the way across the line. Once I get spin on filters on ALL the fuel filters, rust there is not a problem. The DAHL could work well either before the primary or after the...

    Fuel polishing

My current thoughts, subject to change without notice to the outside world, are to replace my secondary fuel filters with spin on filters. This way I get to dispose of the canisters each time I change the filter hence I eliminate those as a rust source. Next, I will install a bowl type...

    Fuel polishing

Bjorn, you got my curiosity up with this! I had never heard of magnetic type filters ever. I got to looking and found the Mag Force, essentially an external clamp on system, and the Force Field spin on adapters, essentially a magnetic spacer for spin on filters through which the fluid passes...

Look closer. There are directional arrows on the side of the filter, subdued, of course.;-)

    Fuel polishing

These were about $1.50 each so nothing important lost if nothing comes of it. I will check them in a few weeks. If the seem to be working I will probably add two more for a total of four on each filter. Who knows? Stranger things have worked before.

Spin On Primary Fuel Filter & Adapter

I installed the spin on adapter and filter today. Removed the rusty old primary can, thankfully. I took a couple of shots to show the installation from the top side. No more work than changing the stock filter and it fits nicely in place.

    Fuel polishing

I think I have to do the project one step at a time. First, I have problems all along the fuel system. First, replace the filter cans. I think I will wait for John on the secondary adapters. That seems more in line with my mechanical ability. Second, I will try to locate a couple of fuel...
