Or you could mount the winch on the floor in the front and run the cable under the mule and hook to the front. This would also help get the wheels over the wheel hump because you would be pulling back but not down as if tied to the rear.

Interesting, as I said I know nothing about it, just posted the link. I guess having the police not be able to enter might be good in some instances but I could see it being bad in more cases. Like medical emergency or fire or just something as simple as a patrol when you are away. I will not...
Did a Google search on the UCC thing since I don't have a clue what it is. Here is what I came up with, by the way the UCC number in the quoted post has been updated to the current number you are using. Apparently they do this occasionally to keep things current. NOTE the last sentence.

About a year ago they sold hundreds of NEW still in the original crate, 3K generators. I bid on quite a few but they went higher than I was willing to pay for a 3K.

They went to 24 volt with the M38, early 50's. I have one the looks sort of like that one but it is in sad shape. What were you looking to get for it?
Rick
Scrapdaddy, I would think you probably already found this post but this poor guy went through EVERYTHING you could possibly go through to get one running. A lot of good info on these many pages...
I would think it would have to have tracks on the whole side even though you can see it didn't. How else would you steer it? Is that the very first skid steer? All wheels would have to be connected on each side.

I hear a lot of bashing but did anyone ever consider that just maybe, due to our great governments financial fiasco, That the owner of that rig may have lost everything but what you see there? I am not standing up for what he is doing but desperate people do desperate things. What would you do...
If the batteries come up good the do a voltage drop test on the cables. Also check the engine ground. If the engine ground is dirty or loose then all of the return voltage will be trying to go through linkages and cables not associated with current flow.

You hit the nail right on the head! I have been using a hi lift for 30 plus years and I have used it to extract myself from mud and rocks, properly rigged it is no big deal. The climbing pins are the number one reason for getting hurt if you do not pay attention to them. They get bent if the...
If you are going to run that 12 volt starter on 24 volts then stock up on flywheels! It will fail to engage 60% of the time and chew the teeth right off. The starter should have a stud of of the back and the truck is either 10mX1.25 or 3/8x16. I don't remember if they are metric or not, I...
So what you are saying is you put 85% alcohol in your fuel? Make SURE you flush all of that out, up to and INCLUDING the injectors. Pull the glow plugs and after bleeding good fuel all the way to the pump crank it in 10 second spurts until you have clean fuel coming out of the return line. Then...
That balancer is not bad, they all look like that after a few years. When the rubber swells and push out of the recess that is when it is time. Doing it ahead of time as you did is insurance though so no harm done.

As long as the military light switch is in the right position then it could be a headlight switch. Check your high beam switch, that is another problem area. Do the turn signals work? If not then look under the dash near the bottom of the steering column and see if the wire harness has been...
The usuall failure is the rubber ring, it will degrade and allow the outer metal balancer to move in relation to the inner therfore changing the balance point. This is usually an age thinge and not really a defect. In your case I think there was more going on there. I would guess that at some...
