So, a pawn shop near me is going out of business and they have a wire feed MIG welder for sale. Interestingly it has a pair of the usual outputs for switching welding handle and ground AND a SECOND set of connections for wiring it up to a 24 volt battery source. The idea of having a welder that...
I went by Hodge Army Navy this weekend and there's a Deuce for sale there. It's a straight A2 Cargo truck with shabby paint. Apparently, traded to a car dealership across the street and they got permission to park it outside Hodge with "for sale" signs on it. Price is listed as $5500.
Sorry no...
So as some of you know, I've got a back burner project looking at a 5 ton tractor for hauling 2-3 armoured cars to WWII events. Something I just realized is that I might be going overweight with 3 armoured cars.
Here's my facts
Payload
2 armoured cars, at about 7 tonnes (long) each
1...
Ok, I've got a replacement transmission with my deuce. They're both up in Virginia. I'm in Atlanta. What sorts of things do I want to have on hand to do the swap and what should I have on hand while I'm doing the transmission swap?
Things like rear main seal, clutch, throw out bearings, etc...
Sunday, I saw a CUCV with a for sale sign in the windows sitting in a parking lot.
It was in decent shape. It still has the brush guard and two antennas mounts/bases on either side. Still in 383 green CARC and has the bridge plate. It doesn't look like it's been civilianized at all save for...
So I have lost 2 teeth on my 5th gear of my transmission. I need to probably swap it out as the truck is sitting at a friend's place in Northern Virginia and I'm in Georgia. It'll be hard to drive back and forth to do the work then order parts and then do that again.
Anyone know of a resonable...
So this is the current setup of the lights on my Trailer.
I've had a friend following me and he's reported that the trailer lights are hard to see. I have LED bulbs in the outside lights which are both turn and brake functions. The inside MV lights also work for brake and turn functions as well...
So I've had a few nibbles for MV's but no real takers yet.
The Convention has a Parade. Last year I had two of my own MVS in it and the Senior Director LOVED the vehicles in the parade. So, I was asked to see if more would come. We have slots for 3 Vehicles.
This thing is huge, 20,000 people...
Shows how inertia is useful with the larger truck. Also interesting is the external air cleaner (looks kind of like a 5 ton but isn't).
[edit] Bloody frames showed a different header url than what video was playing....Sorry.
It's a great event. There's usually some WWII tactical transport iron there. High speed tractors, Federal 4x4 Tractors, Diamond Ts, Macks, CCKWs and some odd British/Canadian stuff too! Not to mention aircraft.
I'll be there. Look for the dingo and the Scottish lion divisional sign.
June...
A Director needs a water buffalo moved from near College Park up to near Duluth to the SE RR Museum. Is anyone with a Deuce able to move this for him? It's Greg Russell at the SSRR museum. Let me know I'll get you in touch.
The South Eastern Rail Road Museum is having an Armed Forces day at their location in Duluth, Ga. on Saturday the 19th of May. The space is BIG and there's LOTS of room for setting up displays and they want MVs. Lots of MVs. Last year we only had 3 vehicle from the MVPA and two were jeeps. The...
so, I'm starting to examine the type of truck and trailer for our gaggle of guys in the PA area for our armored vehicle transport. We'll have x3 7 ton armored cars, and some smaller 4-5 ton vehicles.
Same as the deuce for my dingo, I'm thinking a 5 ton semi tractor would be good for the...
Here's the jeep as it came home. I've not done anything to it. The body is so bad that rather than waste time on it with wrenches, I'm probably going to use a saws all around major parts to get the rear tub off. The Front tub is going to last a little longer as the hood and such are in better...
There's some folks out in Carrolton Ga that are restoring several M114 Cav Scout APCs. I've made a contact and gotten an invite out. How many guys would like to go out there to look and see the armor?

Anyone want to go?
ps. My Deuce and trailer are in PA with the...
So, i'm about to take another trip to PA via I85/I77/I81 to Fort Indian Town Gap for another trip. This time I'll have 1100 singles, two 55 gallon fuel tanks and I'll be trying to get it done in 2 days. I'll be leaving Tuesday the 23rd.
I'll post pictures when I'm packed and about to hit the road.
